A Poem From Norm Beam

Not sure if this is the right forum for this????

EPILEPSY

Had epilepsy for over a year.
Living my new way of life, in a state of fear, but I never let this disease get me down.
But where is my family? They let me down. They aren't with me anymore, when I see them, all I get is a nasty frown.
So I stay away, and live my life, day to day, you (my family) don't have a clue at what I am going through.
This is worse than having epilepsy, you are making me blue.
All that you are doing is trying to keep me down, but that's not happening.
Can't you see the smile on my face?
But hey, I'm getting all the support I need from my church, my friends, my terrific medical team, and my special person: my wife. Who are lifting my spirits up in my new way of life.

Epilepsy can sure be devastating, not only from the person affected by this disease, but for all who really cares.

Epilepsy is more than just having seizures, there is so much more to it. It is really a huge complex disease that can affect all parts of the body and plays havoc on the mind.

So when you come across a person with epilepsy, don't just say hi, give them a big hug.
Epilepsy should never be hidden under a rug. Education and understanding is the key. You could make a difference.

I'm still the same person, but with a new disease, so please don't fear me.

I have found a wonderful new family. A family with so much love, kindness, and understanding. My new family is my Coping With Epilepsy Support Group.
God bless them all.

Hi Normbeam,

Nice to see another writer. There is a "Creative Writing" forum for poems, etc.
Click on "Social Groups" and there you can find the "Creative Writing" forum.

Thanks Endless. I was wondering if anyone was going to respond about my poem from this group. Kind of felt discouraged, since I received 25 wonderful replies just today about my poem from another support group that I belong to.

Thanks again Endless. I plan to send it to a newspaper that places poems like the one that I wrote. If it is okay ed by Bernard.

Epilepsy awareness.

Take care hope you are feeling well.

Thanks Blondie. I'm glad that you liked my poem. That means a lot to me.

As for How I'm doing,,,, do you have 6 hours to spare, and a couch? Just kidding...Well maybe not.

Going through a really rough time right now. Things are started to come to a head.

But I will get through it. This is not the support group that I should be venting, although I know that you all are always there for me.

Thanks Blondie.

Norm,

Of course you can vent here, too. We're always here for you.

I know you are going through a really tough time right now. Hang in there. At some point it gets nothing but better every day. I'm hoping that day is tomorrow.

Thanks so much Endless. I really appreciate it.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day of sunshine...just like you Endless, you are a ray of sunshine.

I will send you a PM tomorrow.

Bless you and hope that you are coping well with what you are going through.

Norm

I"m doing GREAT. I'm in my late afternoon/evening good period before I take my meds for the day. I'm still on once a day. I double my dose tonight as another step in ramping up on Trileptal. Saturday nights are no longer my favorite night. lol....

It's NOTHING compared to what you are going through.

Write tomorrow and tell us how you are doing?
