Pressure in head during seizures

I think I made a post about this a long time ago, but I can't find it because the post history doesn't seem to be working.

When I have a seizure, the main symptom I have is pressure in my head. It starts in one area, then spreads to other areas. It lasts about 3-4 minutes.

Does anyone else have this? I'm asking because I don't see anything that says it's even a symptom and I'd like to know if there is anything I can do to relieve the pressure. It's almost unbearable. I wouldn't say it hurts, it's just such a strong feeling.

Do you have tonic clonics? I always have a lot of pressure in my head that lasts for a few hours but I think that it is more of my jaws being compressed by the cheek muscles and the neck muscles jerking to hard too. My eyes feel like I have a sinus headache too which is a lot of presure built up. Remember that when your body is seizing, every single muscle in your body tightens up for the length of time that your body seizes.

I don't get that type of pressure but a neurologist once told me that if I get a headache that is a constant pressure as opposed to a throbbing than it is a neurological headache.

Would that be like a migraine?

I've had headaches like that but they've never been diagnosed as migraines. If they are then yes.

I know that there have been studies showing a relationship between seizures & migraines though.

Migraines with aura mimic temporal lobe epilepsy

Have you mentioned the pressure sensation to your doctor? It might be a symptom of some sort of intracranial pressure. It could also be migraine-related, so you might want to try various migraine remedies to see if they help. One simple one involves using acupressure points http://www.migrainereliefblog.com/mi...essure-points/

I have migraines after every E fit regardless. So I am interested to learn more about the pressure that is being spoken of in this instance.

I know the feeling. In fact, before I knew this feeling was seizure-related, I described it to a doctor as a sensation that my head wasn't 'draining' properly because of the pressure. What's weird is this pressure can last for days prior to a seizure, and then once I seize, I feel like ahhh, relief at last. Does your pressure mainly affect the base of your skull? Mine does.

Mine usually starts on my right side, and recently started spreading to the other side. Occasionally, it will be at the base of the skull. I've never had it last for more than a few minutes.

Thank you for telling me you know how it feels. I was starting to think I was the only one.

I read up on migraines. It doesn't sound like what I'm feeling.

No, you definitely aren't alone. That was my primary symptom, that and unexplained, unwillful teeth-clenching. In fact, I even went in asking one doctor to order an MRA on me because I was concerned about a blood clot in my brain causing the unbearable pressure.
