See the Epileptologist tomorrow

Really nervous I see the Epileptologist tommorow I hope he doesn't blow me off like the neurologist. I have heard that he is great Doctor and my Psychiatrist is willing to work with him if these are not just pseudo seizures. My seizures and migraines are about ninety percent less on Klonopin but not gone and now I have this thing where my right leg kicks about a minute and stops then my head pounds (usually about once a week). Almost no full body shaking now though!

Don't be nervous! Hopefully he will work out better than the others have.

Make sure when you go that you write down all the questions that you want to ask him so that you make sure you don't forget anything. Bring a notebook to so that you can keep track of what he's telling you. If you can try to bring someone with you so that between the two of you things will get remembered better (that's how it works for me at least!)

I hope everything go's good. Good luck!

Good Luck

I first saw my current epileptologist over two years ago. Got him because my health coverage changed. That followed 10 years, since age 43, of meds + seizure every 4-6 weeks; which I was okay with at the time. He said, "no-no-no, that's not how we do things. We try to stop the seizures." He changed my meds. The seizures went to every eight weeks (strangely painful) for about six months, then stopped. That was 1 1/2 year ago. Still on the meds, but have had two slight reductions. You got great advice above to write down all of your questions and be sure to ask them. I would add advice to listen. Best wishes.

Saw DR. Wechsler today and he was great and is starting me on Topamax and weaning me of Klonopin he even said the video eeg being negative did not mean much to him without the proper drug trial first! So after being on the Topamax, if he isn't happy with the results he will have me stop it during a video EEG. Until then he thinks that my wife and me both giving him info is pointing to some type of small but chronic epelieptic seizure pattern he is guessing deep in the brain and feels it is genetic as my my dad's family had lots of similar seizures. He is hoping low dose meds resolve it without more tests! He even gave the name of another nuerologist slightly closer incase I can't reach him!

Woo-Hoo

Congratulations on finding such a great neurologist! I know it took a lot of stress off my mind when I found a good one.

Wow! Congrats on finding a good doctor. Everything is going to work out now.

Too bad you are in Idaho, or I'd be coming to see your new doctor, too!

Wow, I'm envious, too! It almost makes me want to drive up to Idaho!

I'm so happy for you. Now that you have good docs things are going to go much better for you.
