Seeking Advice for Endocrinologist visit...

Hi all,

I have an appointment next week with an endocrinologist because I want to get some tests done to check hormone levels and thyroid numbers as I have a reduced libido and fatigue. Previous experience has taught me that it is often hard to tell exactly how these drugs are affecting you and the neurologist often had no idea. Mine in fact, came flat out and said he didn't know about the libido stuff.

I currently take keppra. Does anyone have any other suggestions on things that would be relevant to have tested as well? I want to make the best use of my appointment.

I'm going to ask to have vitamin and mineral levels checked as well and possibly adrenal function.

Any advice on what would be relevant to a keppra user would be appreciated.

Thanks,

D

I'm afraid my response is worthless but I am in the boat with you. I am also going to an endocrinologist next month just because I've never seen one and I am at wits end with all of this.

I saw the endo and had some bloodwork done. It all came back normal (if the reference range can be trusted). I had testosterone, Free and Weakly Bound Testosterone, estradiol, CBC, etc. and all looked pretty good. Estradiol was normal but on the higher end of the range. Free and Weakly bound Testosterone was also normal, but in the lower half of normal.

I can post the results if it would be of help to anyone that may know of these things.

I'm trying to figure this libido/sexual function thing out by eliminating possibliities, and if the hormone thing is okay I don't know what else to check other than some possible physical problem or the problems being a direct reaction to Keppra.

Any ideas on what to do or test next would be appreciated.

Thanks,.
