Unhappy Seriously the weirdest of the weird things that have ever happened to me!

Okay, two days ago I started getting dizzy spells. After the second one (about noon) I realized that I had missed 2 doses of my seizure meds. I took a dose and decided to lay down because I was really starting to feel bad. I guess I fell asleep because I woke up at 6:00 the next morning and the whole room looked like it was spinning. I was sweating so much I looked like I just came in from the rain. My husband said my eyes were rolling back and forth. I was throwing up. He took me to the ER and I don't remember much after that. I remember them putting in an IV and asking my family to wait outside. I remember them giving me a brain scan and the doctor talking to me but I can't remember much of what he said. I told them I wanted to go home and throw up in my own toilet. The next memory I have is waking up this morning in my own bed feeling like I got run over by a truck. My brain feels heavy and I keep having to delete some of these words because I am putting in the wrong letters. Like I can't remember how to type. I have a very bad headache and I am kind of wobbly when I walk. I haven't seen the doctors pages yet but my husband said they asked all kinds of questions about my seizures and said something about vertigo. I'm really confused. Sorry such a jumble, any thoughts? Thanks so much!

Here is my first question to you. Can you put you head down, like just using your neck. Stand and look at your toes? Do you have full range of motion in your neck? Do you have a fever at all? Check that right away. Sounds like they think you have meningitis or some other viral infection that could be attacking your brain if they did a scan. Did they do a spinal tap?

If it is a viral infection, it is very contagious and certain types can be fatal or cause the need for amputation. Call the er for your results or go back in to make them stop the issue. It could even be a severe. Migrraine.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you have experienced. It sounds like it could have been several things that might have caused the problems you had and are still having--the missed doses of medicine can cause some pretty nasty withdrawl symptoms and/or breakthrough seizures. I would ask your husband to read the doctor's report to you for a better understanding of what actually happened to you, especially since you have large blocks of time where you don't remember what happened.

What an awful couple of days you have had. It sounds really scary.

From what you are describing it could have been one of many things. Follow-up is critical. It's important to get a copy of your chart notes (record) from the hospital. Sometimes the sheet they send home with you isn't enough. If it were me I'd also see your primary care physician and your neurologist soon - today if possible. Especially your PCP. She can help you decode what the ER thinks was going on.

Let us know how you are doing, okay?

Thanks all!

Talked to my PCP. She said it looked like I had a virus that attacked the nerve that runs from my inner ear to my brain stem. She said I probably had a seizure at some point during the whole thing. I'm home and doing better. I set an alarm on my ipod so I won't miss anymore doses! Thanks guys for checking in on me, very sweet!!
