....Spooky....My parents just bought a new 55" LED TV. The brought it home and set it up. We sat down and watched about 5 minutes of the discovery channel when I felt the seizure starting and I stood up and walked in front of the television just as the complex partial took hold. The SECOND I slipt into that seizure the TV shut off. Just lost all power. Parents thought I must have shut it off but there is no power button on the tv itself. They tried to turn it back on and it was comepletly dead. Like toast. Unplugged it, replugged it in. Nothing. Called the store for help. Nothing. Called samsung for help. Nothing. We ended up having to drive it back to the store and exchange it! So when they were setting this one up I stayed in another room. Now it gives me headaches to watch it. I thought it was sooooo spooky!

| We bought a LG flat screen a while back. It would turn on by itself in the middle of the night or the volume would increase on its own while we were watching...we took it back and exchanged it for another...which did the same thing...kind of spooky.... Now we have a SONY |

| Hi, Rae: How are your headaches? With regard to your TV, that definitely does sound spooky! I'm thinking your headaches (and complex partial seizure) may be caused by the frequent, sudden shifting action that's so clear & realistic on the newer LED TV's. But, I'm more of a technophobe than a technophile, so you may want to seek other CWE members' opinions. I DO know the newer tv's produce TONS of heat. Hope your headaches ease up. Take care, Rae! ~Ann |

| Hi Rae, It IS spooky! But don't let it creep you out. There's an explanation. I've had electronics suddenly die, too. I have an LCD I got several years ago that loses its picture unexpectedly, and sometimes shuts off. The fact that yours won't even turn back on makes me suspect a short of some kind, or a loose wire. This same TV gives me periodic simple partial seizures. It makes me see the picture as really GIGANTIC. But it looks like it still fits inside the original size of the frame of the tv. Weird. I have no idea why that tv sets me off and the other one doesn't. I've got to get rid of that thing. Free 32" LCD, anyone? |

| Definitely spooky! There was a period where I seemed to have the ability to kill the batteries on anything I was near -- my watch, my car, etc... |

| I know its just a coincidence that it died at that moment. A brand new TV! Lol my parents could not believe it! I know I didn't cause the short *right?* but I can't help but wonder if the tv let off some undetectable change before it died. One that triggered a seizure in me. Or if there was an external shift that killed both the tv and triggered my seizure.

| LED tvs actually emit very low levels of electromagnetic radiation compared to the old fashion CRT monitors, but I bet a 55" screen can mess with your brain, just by being so large. FYI, Samsung has posted warnings on its new 3D-gaming consoles and TVs: Quote :

| Hmmmm. It is a gaming TV. But not 3D. Supposedly it has a function that can repixalize the screen so it looks better with a game? Not sure how it works or what that means.

| Under "Features" in "Game Mode" it says: Quote :
I"m wondering if when they talk about an increased image processing response that they're talking about an increased pixel refresh rate. If so, I would wonder if this might make photosensitive people more likely to be triggered by this type of TV.

| hi rae, it is weird for things to just up and die like that, but don't just think it was the wiring of the t.v. you may want to talk with your doctor about this. people everywhere are saying its one sickness or another that can make it happen, don't laugh it off. with the seizure warnings on everything now its tough |
