Strange Topamax Side Effect (Not A Bad One)

I was born with a lump on my scalp that was thought to be either Central Nervous System Heterotopia or part of a residual encephalocele.

The lump was removed aged 10 (I am 29 now). There was, however, brain tissue on the lump when they removed it.

For over a year recently, I had been getting pain in the area where the lump was (I still have the scar there), despite it being removed all those years ago. Not only that, it was often raised, sometimes so much it looked as if the lump was back or coming back.

I am currently on Topamax, and for some reason on this medication, I don't get the pain, whereas previously it was always really tender and sore. Not only that, the lump is no longer raised and has not been for a while. How can Topamax cause it to not be raised whereas previously it usually was?

Sounds like there was some sort of inflammation that either was made worse by your prior meds, or is made better by the Topomax.

Thanks. I wasn't on any medication before the Topmamax, Topamax is the first ever anti seizure drug I have had, and the only reason they let me have that is because of the headaches.
Also, why would there be an inflamtion all these years after the operation that wasn't there previously?
