Reading through some of these threads on what issues people have, and the often lack of preventative testing done by too many neurologists, I wanted to ask a general question to all out there on opinions as to what bloodwork or other tests that persons taking AEDs should have done periodically to ensure they are not being adversely affected by their medication of choice.

Obviously, if you are taking a drug that can have levels checked you do that, and liver function tests if needed, but what else?

I've come up with: Vitamin D, B-12, Folic Acid, a periodic bone density scan, Hormone levels and hormone balance ratios... (even though my neuro has never tested anything besides liver function and Dilantin levels over the years, and doesn't test anything now that I am on Keppra.)

Anyone else out there have thoughts on what would be good preventative testing to have done?

AEDs can affect white and red blood cells counts (they do in my case), so it can be good to check those from time to time, and have a baseline for comparison.
