Travel Sickness

Just looking for suggestions on what I can take for travel sickness that won't affect my Epilepsy. I'm really no sure on what I can and can't take or if everything is okay.

I'm going to Russia next year and I need something for the flight (from Australia). I flew to Italy last year and was sick the whole way, I was sick on the tour bus, I was sick again flying to the Northern Territory in Australia, and sick on the tour bus again. I'm really fed up of spending half my time with my head in a plastic bag. Some people have suggested for the long haul flight I go to the doctor and get sedatives, but I have no idea what they would do to me.

Does anyone know of a website where there is a list of over the counter medications that are good and bad for Epilepsy? I live in a small town and the doctors and chemists seem to know very little, I really don't want to have to go the neurologist every time I'm not sure.

Russia! Have fun!

Well, I was going to say anything that makes me sleepy seems to be okay for me. But then I read this:

http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/provoke_otc

http://www.nevdgp.org.au/info/epilep...dications.html

You can check for interactions between an OTC and your seizure meds here:

Different but related topic. I find that I have to take the motion sickness pill or put on the patch about an hour before I leave the dock (in the case of boats but same for planes) in order to not get sick. If you wait until you get sick, it's too late. You have to stay ahead of it. I like the patches. Slap one on once a day and you are good to go.

I have tried the tablets and they don't work, and I do take them before I travel. What are the patches? I've never heard of them..
Thanks for the sites will have a look

This one lasts longer than the one I had.

If your doc says it's okay and you decide to use it I recommend trying it BEFORE you travel. Don't want a surprise adverse reaction on a plane over the atlantic. The patch just makes me very sleepy and woozy. I've never had it together with seizure meds so I can't comment on how that'd go. Good topic to ask your neurologist.

A non-drug alternative that I think helps some but not a cure is wristbands. They have a little plastic knobby thing on it that presses into an accupressure point on your inner wrist.
