Just got the call from the Epilepsy Center, and a bed is open for me for my Video EEG.

I am hoping someone who has went through this experience was online, and could tell me what I should bring? And what I could expect?

Excited to get some more answers, but nervous as well :|

I already packed front-button shirts, pajama pants, some regular clothes, socks/underwear/etc., as well as my own soap/razors/toothpaste/toothbrush/etc..

I also am bringing my computer, phone, notebooks, and books (and all the chargers/accessories/etc.).

Am I missing anything?

I am most concerned on the expectation front :(

Hi!
You don't say how long your admission is for, but bring activities you like to do that you can do from bed, like latch hook, crocheting, sketching, etc. Bring a couple of books that are easy to read (I found concentration was difficult because of all the distractions). Check to see if the facility has internet access; mine didn't, so I purchased more data time for my smartphone. Get a tv (sometimes you have to order one from the front desk). Don't worry about clothes; it's way easier to just wear hospital PJs (or gown if you prefer) since you can more readily get clean ones. Bring your own pillow! Make sure to ask to speak to the dietician about your diet requirements - I have celiac and the kitchen had to be extra-cautious with my food to make sure it was gluten free. Bring some GF snacks in case you are uncomfortable with a meal you get. Bring extra fruit (oranges keep well), as hospital meals can be lacking in that regard. So far that's all I can think of. Good luck!!

Sorry, guys. I'm a bit frazzled :| along with the excitement and stress, I woke up with a headache :( My stay will be "up to" 7 days. They say that if they find anything quicker than 7 days then they will let me leave earlier, but of not its 7 days.

N Sperlo, I'm not sure what to expect. This is my first time seeing any kind of Epilepsy specialist, and its for testing. And as far as I know it is for testing only (as in, I wont see or talk to an actual specialist about my "case").

I live in a very, very small town. With only one Epilepsy Specialist within 150 miles. The only communication is a 5 minute phone call, I feel very lost and in the dark.

masterjen....

They do have internet access, so I am very happy about that LOL. Also I do plan to explain my GF diet, but to bring GF snacks is a great idea! Thank you :) And my pillow!! Definitely bringing that, didn't even know I could :D

My longest EEG (video in bed) was done at home and I'm lucky for that. You're really limited when you stay at the hospital. Masterjen gave you some great advice and I really can't expand on it. Bring plenty of things to entertain you.

I've had my feel of Veeg I've had so many of them.

I had my first expierce of VEEG at NIH when I was in Highschool.
Be expected be bored stiff unless you have someone staying with you. I was always good at having big sz's off camera.

I had a 5 day EEG in 2012 and they didn't find anything, i'm up for another 5 day one this summer. The issue I had and can help you avoid a lot of stress is make sure your Dr. has good communication with you. I feel better this time around because regardless of what they find on the test they will have a "plan." So you aren't left back at square one, it sucks but do whatever you can think of to bring this on in there. The team working with you should have it all mapped up and planned to find it, and I hope they get you answers!
