Valproate - what's your take on it? I was put on Valproate, but I'm reluctant to take it. The neurologist said it will cause a number of side effects including weight gain amongst other things. Those of you who have taken this medication, how did it go? What side effects did you have, and did it work for you? Many thanks Vanessa.     |

| Realize that nothing is definite when it comes to side-effects. I was on it for years & of all the anti-epileptic drugs I've been on it had the least side-effects, especially not weight gain. I was so skinny while I was on it that a friend eventually confided in me that she thought I was using heavy drugs. The only real way to find out what side-effects you get is to try it. You're obviously aware of what side-effects are possible so watch for them.
