Vocational Certificate In Epilepsy Care!!!

Hi Guys

I just received my certificate from the University, and I'm feeling so proud of myself!! It was four years of hard work to get this qualification, and getting the certificate in yesterday's post, was just what I needed to lift my spirits!!

All I need now, is to find that elusive perfect job!! I just wanted to shout about a bit of good news for once!! My mum would have been so proud of me bless her, God I miss her so much, you guys out there that still have your parents, look after them and love them to bits eh?!We go and visit my dear Dad down by the sea next weekend, and I'm taking my certificate to show him.

I hope everyone is ok, and that you are getting some sunshine wherever you are in the world, it is actually warm and sunny here today, and so far, no wobblers!! By the way, I just increased my Keppra to 1500mg am, and 1,000mg pm, I am falling asleep in front of the tv, is anyone else out there experiencing this with Keppra? I'm also on Trileptal for the Simple Partials.Take care all, and be happy, if anyone ever wants to talk to me about surgery, please don't hesitate, and keep in touch all, it's so good to know you are out there!!

Lotsalove

Congrats Elaine! I get tired just thinking of going back to school, let alone 4 years of it. Your accomplishment is downright inspirational.

Best,

Congratulations, Lainy!

I know how hard you worked for this! If some agency doesn't swoop you up we will have to assume that they're not "top notch"!

How proud your dad and mom must be! I'm sure your mom is having a party up there!

Doing the Happy Dance with you!!!

Congrats!! Elaine.....

You did it. Someone is waiting out there to hire you with your inspirational knowledge.
BTW, I take Keppra, and yes the max dosage and it does have the tendency to make me want to fall asleep while in front of the tv on occasion.

Great news! That is such a great thing to have completed. I graduated from University in December of last year with a Bachelor's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation/Human Resources Counseing. I hope to work at a center for the blind, deafblind or deaf. Being deafblind myself, I think I would love to work with people in the same situation. I like to do lots of advocating even about Epilepsy.

Anyways- great news and keep it up!

Dear Crystal

Thank you so very much for your good wishes, but I would say you are much more worthy of them than myself! I have always so admired anyone with visual problems, but to have hearing and visual trouble, well, what can I say other than, I am in awe of you, how did you manage with studying, it is incredible how you cope, I have always said that if Epilepsy is the only problem I ever have to cope with in life, then I will deem myself extremely lucky, and you so deserve to go as far as you want to with your recent qualification, I really do mean that, well done you!!

I would be very very pleased if you would keep me informed with how you get along, and that we can keep in touch with each other? Please say that you'll be happy to do that, I really do mean it when I say, that I am sure you will continue to be an absolute inspiration to me, I have only just started to talk with you, but already I am thinking that, if I ever get down days, and I can't do that days, (luckily, not very often), but I would like to stop and think, hey, Crystal can do it, Crystal can achieve anything she puts her mind to, then I'm sure you will be a great help to me in my struggle to find that ever evasive perfect job! Please say that you will be happy to be friends?! I do hope so, I really do!

Please write again soon, and I really do look forward to hearing from you my friend!

Very Best Wishes

Elaine xx

I am very happy for you and appreciate your kind comments to me. My twin and I have been working towards our degrees for 6 years and it does take a lot to manage with both hearing and vision loss. But it is never impossible. We had the help of SSPs (support service providers), interpreters, note-takers, Braille transcriptionists, and
teachers that are patient. We were in special education our whole lives and some of the modifications used there are in use in college. Test taking modifications and quite place to work etc were very helpful. We had a whole team of people that would work with us. We were required to do the same as other students and when we had trouble accessing information, we would be helped by the teacher or find other alternative assignments that would meet the same goal.
I had to scan all of my textbooks one page at a time into the computer using a scanner to listen to them using Jaws for Windows. I can change it all into Braille too with Duxbury Software or Megadots. I do use large print but not for school. I cannot read long enough for reading assignments.
Even in music, we make modifications for our vision and hearing loss to enable use to keep composing. Our studio is modified with EQs that match our hearing loss, FM systems and other wires that connect to our hearing aids, amps and other processors that help us hear what we play.
Some of our music is on youtube under our band name jumelle. If you care to, type in jumellemusic and have a listen.
On our first CD, the title "All Things Possible" is something we always keep in mind.

Congratulations on your success!
Crystal

Hi Crystal

I so appreciate hearing back from you so soon. I had a look at your profile, and I was interested to see that one of your many interests is Arabic. Have you ever been over that way? My partner Mark and I have been to Egypt 4 times, and we totally adore the country, the people, the weather, architecture, it is simply beautiful, and I feel so at peace with myself when I'm over there. We stayed in Luxor twice, and then Sharm El Sheikh, and then in 2007, we spent two weeks up on the Sinai Pennisula at Taba Heights, absolutely gorgeous!! I saw that you enjoy travel, that is all I ever wanted to do, is to get as far round the world as I possibly could, I never wanted children, and I've managed to avoid marriage so far, and I'm 46!!! Some achievement eh? I am with "Mr Right" now, but we only met ten years ago, we'll get married one of these days, like you, we are both also Liverpool supporters!!!

Going back to travel, we went to Hong Kong and Thailand in 2006, that was amazing, what an interesting couple of countries, I would certainly like to go back, as due to my short term memory trouble, I don't remember that much about it, I often get the photos out, and they remind me of places and things we visited, but I have forgotten lots about some of our holidays, we've also been to Malta, and Tunisia during our time together, but there is one place that I have wanted to go since I was a little girl, and that is New York. I am an architecture freak, and I don't think I'll actually believe the place until I get there!

I hope all is well with you, and that you have some sunshine today, we actually do for a change, so I'm going for a walk and get the daily papers. Keep in touch won't you?

Love

Elaine x

Elaine- I surely will keep in touch. Wow what an exciting adventure you have had! I do Arabic, Chinese and Japanese calligraphy and have always loved the buildings too. I have a great friend in Japan who I would love to see one day. Maybe one day i will travel to France to visit all of my family!
I like to learn languages and their corresponding Braille and sign language codes. Fun LOL.
My Mom has some friends in Egypt and we were getting items to set up a store here with clothing, incense and other neat items, but Mom decided not to set it up. So we have a lot of stuff here from the middle east. My religion is Baha'i and we use Arabic and Farsi/Persian to recite prayers. Most people use English here- but I prefer to use original language which is beautiful.
I say Bismilah ir Raman ir Rahim and Allah'u'Abha 95 times a day using my Tasbis or prayerbeads. I hand make them myself.
I say the daily prayer "Salat-Saghir" in Arabic too. I think its really pretty.

Anyways- take care and thank you for responding. I would love to hear of your travels one day.

Crystal
