Warm feeling on the back of my head

HI: I do not have E, tho did have a seizure years ago and that is why I started viewing this board. My seizure was thought to be diabetes related per my diabetes doctors RN. I am not a doctor so they must be right. Here is my question. On the back of my head from time to time I feel like I can feel someones hand on it. It does not hurt, it just feels like someone is placing their hand there, warm with no uncomfortalbe pressure. It is so odd that I will often reach back and check to see if someone is touching me. My hair is not clipped or restrained in any way so it is not that, it is just strange. My history is I flunked an EEG as a child nothing done and not medicated. and I flunked an EEG at age 21; that was 23 years ago after I was struck with a full unopened can of beer in the temple at close range (knocked me out) nothing done, no medication given (I was not drinking). I do have massive anxiety and I am not medicated for it. Just looking for your thoughts before I mention this to my endocrinologist.

hmm, it could be an "aura" type seizure.

What do you mean when you say "flunked" an EEG. Do you mean they didn't find anything or that they found something abnormal?

I think it's worth mentioning to your doctor:
Quote :
Sensory seizures:
These cause changes in any one of the senses. People with sensory seizures may smell or taste things that aren't there; hear clicking, ringing, or a person's voice when there is no actual sound; or feel a sensation of "pins and needles" or numbness. ...
simple partial seizure

Do you know if there's a particular trigger for the sensation -- for instance does it happen at the same time every day, or after eating certain foods, or when you're tired? If you can note a pattern that might help figure out the cause, or if it's some kind of aura or minor seizure.

Thanks for your response

Well, when I say flunked my EEG, it was shown to be abnormal both times it was done. That is all I know. I feel fine, and I really don't notice a pattern as to when it happens, I probably should check my blood sugar to see if it is that though, I often have blood sugars of 65 and lower and function quite normally. Much below 50 and well my thinking processes are not always normal. Well thank you all so much for your help. Bernard, funny you mentioned the pins and needles. I mentioned that to my last endocrinologist that I have them often they start on the right side of my scalp and rush back to my left side. They don't hurt at all, I have always had that. My husbands attitude is heck don't say a word or the doctors will make something out of nothing.

Hi!
I do not have seizures but my son does. i have spoke of him many times on this forum. I was just relieved and amazed to hear you say that you have a feeling of a warm hand touching you on the back of your head. OMG! i have had that feeling too but on my chest. it is real weird but calming and yes it does feel like a hand. i never knew how to explain that before. i had it a couple times before an anxiety attack.

Please talk

to your doctor about it, and start keeping an E journal. You may very well find a trigger for that feeling of a hand on your head...and be able to get some help.

Good luck!

Meetz

If your EEG was abnormal both times, then maybe you need to have further testing. I also have Type 1 diabetes along with epilepsy and when my glucose goes below 50, I get that light-headed, shaky, pins and needles sensation, also. I feel like I'm going to pass out and I'm not thinking straight by then. So I need to get my "fix" quick.

But I also get that "pins and needles sensation" when I have an aura or a simple partial seizure. The aura doesn't hurt. If your glucose is way down in the 40'- 50's, for some, that in itself can cause seizures, so it is something to make a big deal out of.

I agree with Meetz, you need to talk to your dr. about it.

shrinking head

Does anybody get the weird feeling of their head being pulled through a black hole or something. I do get dizzy sometimes, and I lose my balance, although my balance has never been good. But the strange pulling sensation. My head feels as though it is pulled to the left, and stretched like I was about to enter a worm hole. (A worm hole is a space anomaly BTW.)

I get a feeling sometimes like someone just hooked me behind my nose *like a bill ring* and pulled back towards the back of my head. *sometimes it feels like it pulls towards the front of my face* it doesn't hurt like one would assume the real action would, but it feels exactly like that.

Before I got on my meds almost every night after I went to bed I felt like someone was squeezing the back of my head and it would start tingling really bad like when your foot falls asleep. My neurologist told me this is an aura. Haven't had that happen since I got on the meds but wow - really strange!
