Water fasting while on medication

I was wondering if anyone of you ever did a water fast to detox your body.

I'm asking because I'm already on day 3 which sepused to be the last day of the feeling hungriness for someone who just fasts without any kind of medication.

In case you did, did you stopped feeling hunger after the third day although you took your meds?

Also do you know how much strain there is on the digestive system when it digest pills? ( in my case keppra).

What most concerns me is that even tho I do not consume any food except water the pills themselfs interupt with the healing process of the body because it need to extra energy on the digestion which is the exact opposite of what you try to achive with the water fast.

Hi kostareyna,

Fasting for 3 days isn't just 'detoxing' your body but gets you into a state of ketosis. This can be very effective for seizure reduction. But it can be dangerous to do this without any medical supervision, you could end up in a state of acidosis and/or hypoglycaemia.

thanks.

I actully know about the ketosis, my main goal is to fast for at least 4 days and beyond, I was just wondering if taking medication which is chemical and is in form of a pill and needs digestion will interfere with the fast and the detoxification process.

That sounds like an excellent question for your neurologist.

p.s. some people have increased seizures when they miss meals.
