What exactly is the mechanism by which this medication causes weight gain? Is it fluid retention, increased appetite leading to over-eating, slowed metabolism, inability to metabolize certain foods such as fats, . . .??
It has been proposed that this medication be added into my regimen as the possibility of nocturnal migraines on top of everything else is being considered but the thought of weight gain really turns me off from trying it. I cannot take topamax (also a migraine prophylaxis). I work out as much as I can already and eat very healthfully to keep to a healthy weight and am successful but it wouldn't take much to put me over the edge, so to speak.
