I'm praying Lamictal is the right drug for me. I am exhausted with trying new ones, and ramping up is really hard on me. I really need this to work! My doc says I'm on such a low dose (25 mg 2X per day) that it can't possibly be affecting me. But I know you are right. Even small doses of any anti-epileptic drug has had some pretty profound effects. Especially on me; I'm the sensitive type.

A third possible explanation came up for the length of the episode - seizures of a normal length, but in series with only short breaks. Arrrrg. Still not good.

I am keeping track of it all in my seizure diary. I'm hoping this will all even out soon.

Since Lamictal is prescribed for bipolar disorder at low doses, it obviously doesn't take much to affect the brain. I hope your doc listens and learns from your experience.

Over the years, my neurologist has insisted that low doses of anti-epileptic drugs won't work for me. I keep proving her wrong. I had to argue to be allowed to take under 100mg day when I was on Dilantin. When I went on Lamictal, she insisted I be on a minimum dose of 300mg/day. I refused, stopped at 250mg, and have since tapered down to 175mg a day. I still have seizure control.

Anyway, I hope things even out for you soon. The "not knowing what's going on" is an aspect of epilepsy that can at times feel as burdensome as the seizures themselves.

I was on a low does of lamictal as an adjunct for a long time...25mg once a day for 3-4 years. Then i had 2 seizures and it got raised to 50 mg once a day and was on that for a yr and some change I think. Now...I'm up to 200 mg twice a day...grrrrr.

Is there any chance a bit of panic set in with everything else you were experiencing at the time or that there was more than one type of seizure? Does your time sense get distorted when you have seizures? Sometimes mine does and I don't have the greatest time sense as it is, clock or no clock, lol. Hopefully it doesn't happen again and your still good to go with the med...it sucks when your medication options get limited to 1 or none.

Could have been time warping, I get that sometimes. But it lasted hours according to the clock. Could be aura lasted hours, actually seizures, minutes with time inbetween.

Well, darn. In another string I posted about the big lamictal rash I got last night, and still have today. Seeing a dermatologist, becasue I want to stay on Lamictal if I can.
