I was talking with my neuro recently about AEDs in general, and he mentioned genetic testing for selecting an AED for a person to maximize therapeutic benefit while avoiding the worst side effects.

I had obviously heard of this, but he made it sound like this wasn't widely available yet. Anyone heard any news or research on how far away this is from becoming a reality?

I know that some psychiatrists are doing it when prescribing to their patients, but I wondered about brain drugs for E patients..
 
Man that would be awesome and sounds a simple solution to a huge headache for us.
 
I'm old enough to have seen Smokey & the Bandit in the movie theaters...
