Who is the best doctor in the Washington DC area?

Hello friends. It is nice to meet you.

Could you kindly point me in the right direction to of a super duper duper doctor in the washington dc area? Would anyone be so bold as to actually write this online?

i am currently being treated at hopkins but, frankly, the amount of attention and the "we'll-see-you-every-six-months-enjoy-your-seizures" schedule is, well, toooooo much fun.

Any ideas. Please.

I thank you kindly.

i thank you kindly. but does anyone know a real live doctor who answers the phone and, for example, is willing to, say, change dosages, and, i dunno, not have you suffer for six months?

I know in Canada I usually get in to see the neurologist (or any specialist) faster if my GP makes the appointment.

All the epileptologist's that I know of want you to call in, but the nurse will answer the call. She/he will ask the doctor, then get back to you. That's how most of them do dosage changes that are inbetween appointments. If you tell the nurse how bad off you are and some extreme side effects or new problems with seizures, often times the doc will tell the nurse to make an appointment for you right away.

I don't know any doctors that actually talk with you on the phone. Except maybe my PCP. She does.

nooooooooooooo, guys, you're missing the point.

what i'm saying is: do you is know anyone who be all, "hey, this is nurse so and so from dr so and so's office, remember me? yeah, so have you had any more seizures? no? grrrrreat!" (<--- that was her doing a Tony the Tiger impression. Spot on, btw, eh?)

you know how you go get an oil change? Well, no, i guess most of us here wouldn't know that. OK, but remember how we used to go get oil changes for our cars. And like a week later there would be someone from the dealer who would call you and be all, "Hi, my name is Mark, I just want to make sure everything went well. Could we improve our service at all?"

With seizure doctors they're all, "take two of these and... peace out!!!"

anyone pickin up what i'm puttin down?

Hey, Air.

Are you saying you want good customer service? Are you saying you want an epileptologist's office that actually calls you for follow-up to make sure you are doing okay?

Hahahahahahaha! Good luck! Good service is usually considered getting a prompt call back when we call in with a problem RIGHT NOW.

My PCP's office does follow up later when you call the Triage nurse about an acute problem. After the initial call-back, she calls in the next day or two to make sure your concerns were addressed and the problem is gone. But my PCP is special. Real special. She has phone appointments for a lot of things, too.

Dr. Samuel Potolicchio, GW Medical Faculty Associates, Washington D.C. came highly recommended by a forum member at EFA, based upon positive personal experiences...
