For the Women / meds

I have a question in regards to meds and menstrual cycle. I took Keppra for one month and have now been off it (currently med free) for 3 months and I've noticed my cycle is out of whack, which is not at all normal for me since it's usually like clock work. The 1st month it came almost 2 weeks early and now I'm really late (I should've had it August 18, 19, 20 or so (mid to late August and it's now mid September). I'm actually trying to get pregnant and took a pregnancy test but it showed negative and now I'm getting a little concerned since I will need my menstrual cycle if I want to get pregant. I'm assuming since I've been off now for 3 months my body should be bouncing back, but some side effects are still lingering. Has anyone's cycle gone out of whack due to the meds? Although I question the Keppra since that's what I was taking I would assume if one has the potential to cause this problem they all do. THANKS!

Yeah, I've

had my cycle go way out of whack due to my meds.

But FIRST, you need to get your hormone levels checked. Estrogen, progesterone, and HCG, too. The latter is the Human Chorionic Gonaditropin, or more specifically, the blood test for pregnancy. There are people who repeatedly test negative using the standard urine tests, and the blood test will obviously detect, with much more sensitivity, a change in hormones.

Should the blood tests show that your hormone levels are OK, and there is no HCG, then talk to your doctor (preferably your OB) about what to do. But be sure that there is open communication between ALL of your doctors...

Good luck!!!

I would say give your body time to adjust to all the changes you are putting it through.
Pregnancy puts quite a strain on the system. You do want to make sure it is great condition, mentally and physically. Also, there are many things that can cause hormonal imbalances. Relax and enjoy being med free. When your body is ready it will all work like clockwork.
