With the current news about potential harmful effects of cell phones, I was curious if anybody used them. I have one, but I only use the speaker phone or ear phones now.

I've always been leary of cell phones

but microwaves don't scare me since I don't have to hold it against my head to warm up my food.

I do wonder if my PC sometimes provokes seizures or if I just spend too much time in front of it so I"m more likely to have one there instead of anywhere else.

I use them both, but sparingly. I've never been a "phone person". I prefer to talk to people in person and don't like long conversations on the phone.

The microwave is strictly for re-heating, not cooking.

I use both. The microwave pretty much only gets used to heat water. The cell phone..well, that get used to keep my hubby from freaking out. What can I say....he worries about me.

I only use my cell phone for emergencies. I only use my microwave to reheat my coffee and sometimes left overs.

We started with a cell phone when one of my daughters moved away to college. That is still the only phone she has which seems to be the trend with many young kids.

I use the cell quite often, but usually briefly as I am not into long phone conversations. I do like them for travel and emergencies. I know of a couple of situations where they have saved lives do to faster response time.

The microwave is used fairly regular in our house.

Radio waves and Microwaves have the lowest frequencies in the EM spectrum. If they were harmful to you, your body would have killed itself long ago because your body gives off Infrared Radiation which has a higher frequency then Radio or Microwaves. Also, your body absorbs and reflects Visible Light, which has an even higher frequency then all of those so the sun would kill you. Its only when you get exposed to Ultraviolet Rays, X-Rays, and Gamma Rays that radiation hurts you because they have the highest frequencies. Gamma rays has the highest and will either destroy your tissues, or turn you into the Hulk.
So yes, I have a cell phone and a microwave.

I dropped my cellphone in a dirty puddle in NY... so it has taken it's last breath.
I loved the texting feature. Maybe on my new iphone (if I am good) I can continue keeping in touch with all four of my loved ones.

Microwave reheats my coffee.

Some have the theory that the cell towers are messing with our honeybees.

I saw one of my cell phones go down two flights of stairs, bouncing all the way down! Its battery compartment got hot right after that and I had to remove the battery. Robin, we should be quality control testers!

I remember they used to have those little devices that you could hold up next to a microwave door. If they lit up, then the microwave was considered unsafe to use. I haven't seen them lately, but they're probably on the market somewhere. I prefer to cook on top of the stove and let the odor of the food lure my son out of his room. It's like bait.

Gee - I posted in here, wonder where
my post went?

I only use the nuke box to reheat, thaw, or for
popcorn. I prefer to grill!

But as Hawke said, I also had been advised not
to be close to the microwave while it is going by
my Neurologist, but he never told me why either
but that was years ago. Microwaves have changed
a lot (BIG TIME) since back then - since I had to
turn the dial to turn the nuke box on and from there
went to push button type, and now it's digital.

That's a good question ...

WHY???

But my guess was maybe radiation leakage risk?
Or noise it made possibility triggered seizures or
were known to? Now I'm curious!

I have to use the microwave frequently as I'm not meant to use the cooker (I've injured myself too many times). It's amazing the things you can cook in a pinger when you have to. I've even found ways of crisping bacon, steaming rice and fish, a mean spag bol etc. cell phone I would be lost without as I'm out of the house more than I'm in it. I have too many medical departments etc phoning me to be unavailable for over half of every weekday.

Brain Microwaves and cells caused me some problems!

Since I was diagnosed with a third type of seizure in May of this year my doctor has advised me if I want to cook I have to either use a microwave or have someone cook for me since they are unpredictable. See though when I use the microwave I will start it and then walk away from it. Also my roommate has helped me out alot of the times when needed it. I do not have a cell phone because I don't go to many places. So it wouldn't be used much
GOD SPEED!

I use my stove to cook and back burners as often as possible.
I turn the handle on skillet since I burnt my self.
I also use my micro wave to heat things up.
I got my cell phone for emergenies 4 yrs ago and it's come in handy a lot since.
Since my DH fixes tools he's even been able to fix it once.
After I got a new one he told me.

micro

I have never actually heard anything about the micro and seizures..Intersting though. I do know they say absolutely do not use any plastic containers or plastic wrap in the micro because it may leak potentially dangerous toxins. A whole different problem.
I use my cell and micro..but I will say my cell phone sounds awful with static if I walk by the micro. ?? My sister who has used her mobile phone since they 1st came out and now her cell for business, and she actually has a spot on her brain. The neurologists/specialists are watching it closely..and it is actually like a black hole of sorts. It is not a tumor I don't believe. She has had all sorts of tests..I wonder if it may be related.
