I'm glad to have found this thread because it is something I've always wondered about...not for the general healthy population, but for people with seizure issues specifically.
I've never had a flu shot, especially after my chiropractor explained the thruth about them to me. I've had the flu once. My son got it a few weeks ago. While he had it, no one else in our house got ill except my husband seemed to have had a very light case of it.
My daughter and I just kept juicing my spinach, carrots, fruit, and tried Zicam during this time. We survived unscathed.
Anyway, thank you for the great information. It's nice to know I've made the right decision for my family...one always wonders!

vaccine links

I'm not going to say the following links are trustworthy, but Maybe it's worth a look.
http://www.douglassreport.com/report...FRJxxwodnC5euQ and its opposite: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/
and http://www.healing-arts.org/children...es_and_mercury
I think they may put junk in all vaccines, and it does seem like they are coming out with a new vaccine every year. I am not a fan of them, and would rether steer clear.

Just saw this on the news

Quote :
WASHINGTON -- In a big blow to parents who believe vaccines caused their children's autism, a special U.S. court ruled Thursday that the shots are not to blame.

The court said the evidence was overwhelmingly contrary to the parents' claims -- and backed years of science that found no risk.

I believe what has happened with this court case is that they have ruled against the three families. I am not seeing anywhere where they have proven that they do not create a situation in some people where neurological disorders occur.

Quote :
Autism advocacy organization SafeMinds regrets today’s ruling by the U.S Court of Federal Claims against three families who argued that vaccination contributed to their child’s autism. The denial of reasonable compensation to families was based on inadequate vaccine safety science available to the court. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the defendant in vaccine injury cases and is also responsible for carrying out the very vaccine safety research that should be integral to court decisions. This conflict of interest means the deck is stacked against families when they enter “vaccine court” and is yet one more reason for parents to doubt the integrity of the National Immunization Program.
http://specialchildren.about.com/gi/...safeminds.org/

Quote :
While all the government-conducted epidemiological (statistical) studies show no link between thimerosal and autism, the clinical studies examining brain tissue, blood, urine and human cells show a completely different picture.

Feedback does matter. So where does it all begin? We are always saying that the brain is so different from one body then the other. We all take meds differently.Same with the shots. That is why natuaral is the best way. I really believe that now. I can't believe I was so narrow minded. I do not know yet how I am going to get Alex on biofeedback. But I have been doing some serious talking to the docs.Life is taking us down yet another journy.

About 2 wks ago I got the flu shot. Next day I had an orange sized swelling at the site and bruising and firey heat there - lasted about a week. The nurse said it meant I was already exposed to "a" flu - how many are there???
At 1 wk, post-shot, diarrhea, nausea, cold symptoms, horseness, chills, fever, lethargy, fatigue, so weak I had to walk to the bathroom with a walker, had to have help doing everything for myself. And that was considered a MILD flu!! So, will I take it again next yr? I'm not sure.

Had the pneumonia shot and about 2 wks later had bad cold that went as far as bronchitis, but no pneumonia - have had a very painful pneumonia in the past and COPD!! Was told I don't have to have that shot again for 5 yrs!!!

I have heard the flu mutates all the time and they pick the worst virus of the yr???

Always ask me if allergic to eggs.

Something drastically changed. Think about it.. the kids born in the 50s 60s 70s were exposed to lead paint, pesticides and mercury vaccines. Yet most made it thru without autism. What changed in the 90s? it seems, that NOW 1 out of 10? show signs of autism. Something changed, it may have been subtle, or to save money, but it was a huge mistake.

Great question Joan. I'm not exactly sure. In the earlier years you mentioned there, most moms were stay at home moms. Does this mean that day cares enforced shots too soon for children of working moms? Does this mean that a poor environment during earlier childhood years accounts for how one's brain develops (kind of like a neurofeedback)? Were caregivers paying close attention to the children in a manner that helped them develop and grow a better outlook on life? These questions can really inflict guilt on working parents today. I do recall a family who plopped their children in front of a TV (no working mom) who my mom babysat. They never read books, showed interest in music or any other passion. They just existed. My environment consisted of being fascinated with my mom's piano playing, reading books, playing unique games with unique toys, and simply only watching TV prior to dinner. Could too much electronic entertainment and lack of physical activity account for what appears to be autism?

In 1983, the Centers for Disease Control recommended a total of 10 vaccines for our children. In 2008, the CDC recommends 36, an increase of 260%. (See a comparison here.) Yet, no studies have ever been done to compare neurological disorder ("ND") rates of unvaccinated children to vaccinated children. We commissioned a national market research firm to survey more than 17,000 children in California and Oregon. Read the results here.

Pertussis

My doctor told me that there is a new strain of pertussis going around.
She did a snot culture (for lack of better phrasology).
I have been sick on and off for a year now. I am wondering if this is a new push for vaccines, or what. She knows I don't like the idea of a flu shot, but I won't get the pertussis vaccine either.
I feel the last go round of allergies is because the idiots at work have stepped up their perfume wearing.
Yes, I have been coughing a lot. How can that be pertussis?
I'm almost sure that she will find something on the culture whether or not it is there. They are pushing vaccines like crazy here in Texas.

ethyl vs methyl

this is one of the counter arguments. At least my doctor has not suggested that I get the damn flu shot.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethylmercury
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylmercury
In other words, they are saying that there is 'safe' mercury and that is what is used in vaccines.
Never heard of a safe toxin before. Is that like a safe way to get run over by a car?

Not sure which thread to put this in, but the information is important if you are going to get a vaccine in the near future:

Quote :
Officials are trying to get to the bottom of how vaccine manufacturer Baxter International Inc. made "experimental virus material" based on a human flu strain but contaminated with the H5N1 avian flu virus and then distributed it to an Austrian company.

That company, Avir Green Hills Biotechnology, then disseminated the supposed H3N2 virus product to subcontractors in the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Germany. Authorities in the four European countries are looking into the incident, and their efforts are being closely watched by the World Health Organization and the European Centre for Disease Control.

Though it appears none of the 36 or 37 people who were exposed to the contaminated product became infected, the incident is being described as "a serious error" on the part of Baxter, which is on the brink of securing a European licence for an H5N1 vaccine. That vaccine is made at a different facility, in the Czech Republic.

"For this particular incident ... the horse did not get out (of the barn)," Dr. Angus Nicoll of the ECDC said from Stockholm.

"But that doesn't mean that we and WHO and the European Commission and the others aren't taking it as seriously as you would any laboratory accident with dangerous pathogens - which you have here."

Accidental release of a mixture of live H5N1 and H3N2 viruses - if that indeed happened - could have resulted in dire consequences. Nicoll said officials still aren't 100 per cent sure the mixture contained live H5N1 viruses. But given that ferrets exposed to the mixture died, it likely did.

H5N1 doesn't easily infect people, but H3N2 viruses do. They are one of two types of influenza A viruses that infect people each flu season.

If someone exposed to the mixture had been co-infected with H5N1 and H3N2, the person could have served as an incubator for a hybrid virus able to transmit easily to and among people. That mixing process, called reassortment, is one of two ways pandemic viruses are created.

Research published last summer by scientists at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control found that in the laboratory, H5N1 and H3N2 viruses mated readily. While less virulent than H5N1, a number of the offspring viruses appeared to retain at least a portion of the killing power of their dangerous parent.

Baxter International, which is based in Deerfield, Ill., said the contamination was the result of an error in its research facility in Orth-Donau, Austria.

Hi Robin

I heard about it. Some people in the US were real sick. I do not know if I had the bad strain but my husband and I were very sick. That was after we got the flu shot.

Quote :
Children Who Get Flu Vaccine Have Three Times Risk Of Hospitalization For Flu, Study Suggests

ScienceDaily (May 20, 2009) The inactivated flu vaccine does not appear to be effective in preventing influenza-related hospitalizations in children, especially the ones with asthma. In fact, children who get the flu vaccine are more at risk for hospitalization than their peers who do not get the vaccine, according to new research that will be presented on May 19, at the 105th International Conference of the American Thoracic Society in San Diego.

Flu vaccine (trivalent inactivated flu vaccine TIV) has unknown effects on asthmatics.
"The concerns that vaccination maybe associated with asthma exacerbations have been disproved with multiple studies in the past, but the vaccine's effectiveness has not been well-established," said Avni Joshi, M.D., of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. "This study was aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the TIV in children overall, as well as the children with asthma, to prevent influenza-related hospitalization."
The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommend annual influenza vaccination for all children aged six months to 18 years. The National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (3rd revision) also recommends annual flu vaccination of asthmatic children older than six months.
In order to determine whether the vaccine was effective in reducing the number of hospitalizations that all children, and especially the ones with asthma, faced over eight consecutive flu seasons, the researchers conducted a cohort study of 263 children who were evaluated at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota from six months to 18 years of age, each of whom had had laboratory-confirmed influenza between 1996 to 2006. The investigators determined who had and had not received the flu vaccine, their asthma status and who did and did not require hospitalization. Records were reviewed for each subject with influenza-related illness for flu vaccination preceding the illness and hospitalization during that illness.
They found that children who had received the flu vaccine had three times the risk of hospitalization, as compared to children who had not received the vaccine. In asthmatic children, there was a significantly higher risk of hospitalization in subjects who received the TIV, as compared to those who did not (p= 0.006). But no other measured factors such as insurance plans or severity of asthma appeared to affect risk of hospitalization.
"While these findings do raise questions about the efficacy of the vaccine, they do not in fact implicate it as a cause of hospitalizations," said Dr. Joshi. "More studies are needed to assess not only the immunogenicity, but also the efficacy of different influenza vaccines in asthmatic subjects."

Hi Robin

I was wondering if people who have had the H1N1 flu, have an immunity. I had to go to the ER for stomach pains, everyone was required to wear masks. We took ours with us to put them on. If you are going to get sick, it will be in a hospital.

My stomach pains turned out to be due to a medicine for diabetes. I am allergic to it. I am doing fine now that I am off of it. Sorry, for getting off topic. I did not want you to think I went to the ER to see if I had the H1N1 flu. They kept me over night though to see if I did. Then the doctor asked me what was wrong with me. If I knew, I would not have wasted my time.

I have had the flu from the vaccine in the past. My father-in-law did too. They say it is inactive, but I wonder if a bit of the active slips into the vaccine. Do you know anything about that? I have not been able to find any information on it.

I think Joan has a point...but there's something else we need to add to the equation....the increased use of anti-bacterial cleaners. Let's face it..if we're constantly using anti-bacterial cleaners and cleaning chemicals in the home, we aren't letting kids have a chance to build up immunities. Instead, we're creating germs that are resistant to the cleaners and meds. Now that I'm getting ready to be a mom, some of my positions are changing....

For example, as a teacher, I used to strongly believe in vaccinations.
Now, I still believe that children ought to be vaccinated, but not in cluster vaccinations. I think that kids and their immune systems will do better if the vaccinations are spaced out over time, and after the child has a chance to develop some immunity to outside germs. Also, although it's important to keep a clean home, how we clean it needs to be looked at. Are we using cleaners that cause severe reactions in us when we clean? Like gasping for air due to fumes? If so, we need to go back to more frequent cleaning with more natural cleaners like vinegar. Because what makes grown lungs gasp can't be good for kids. Just think of the watering eyes and gasping lungs as your bodies way of saying, "Hey! quit poisoning me! This is NOT safe!"

I'm already sensitive to things with perfumes in them, so I don't tend to use things like body washes and lotions. The funny thing, my hubby says I smell like baby lotion....and that the smell has gotten stronger since I got pregnant. My mother in law regularly asks me what perfume/lotion I'm wearing. When I tell her I'm not, she says I must be fibbing because whatever it is smells really good.

My hubby and his family are canstantly putting on lotion. And constantly have dry skin. The only time I use lotion is when my tummy is itching..and then I use a lotion I made myself with no perfumes or dyes. It's rich enough that I only have to use it every 2 or 3 days. Other then that, if my skin gets dry..which it's usually not..I just increase my water intake. My skin tends to stay soft while hubby and his family have dry ashy skin. So does that mean that alot of our beauty issues like dry skin are actually being created by the things we use to alleviate them? After all, just look at the ingredients in lotion...alcohol. Alcohol dries, not moisturizes....

Yet what happens if your insurance won't allow you to space out those vaccines. Also, do you believe that your child runs the risk of hepatitis and needs a vaccine as a one day old infant? What about testing the body first to see if it has an immune issue to begin with. What about the additives in the vaccines? Now that we know, are we requesting cleaner versions? If the Govt funds your health care, you won't have a choice. f

You are right, there are many areas of our environment that are toxic. Some areas we can control, and some we can't. Our bodies are designed to handle a good % of it. However when we dump poor quality food into the mix we make a mess. We put the body into overdrive, and tip scales to our disadvantage.

Every time I see someone get a vaccine for something, they get sick.
My younger sister had the measles, mumps and chicken pox (as an example). My youngest sister got the vaccine against them (mmr and chicken pox). She wound up with shingles, which is worse than chicken pox.
I have seen people get sick over vaccines. I have not seen anybody not get sick.
