Exclamation What type of Specialist do you see?

WELL!!!

I thought I'd tell you what's up lately. I 've tried so many things that I feel like a guinea pig!I've been in touch with so many different specialiasts and they've asked so many of the same questions. That sometimes you want to tell them here is my resume you know so you don't have to keep repeating yourself every time! See with me my dr.s freak out every they look at me since I'm always going to a learning hosp. or UT S W medical school. And I am always told that they use me for an example in research and books. Isn't that crazy and wild but most of us have gone through the same things!

I know what you mean. I have done what you have done up until I found a good doctor. I hope you find a good doctor soon.

hawke,
I found a good doctor but he is in Dallas, TX. And I live in west texas so it makes it hard and he's aneuro/epileptologist. So I only see him every couple months. I just can't find a good doctor for chronic pain. Because everything that is alternative therapys don't help so I 'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I see a neurologist for my epilepsy. I am lucky that I don't have too many other health issues to make my E harder to handle. My other issues are mild asthma, low thyroid, low iron, and low B12.

Most of these are controllable. I have a lot of respect for those who can fight multiple problems at the same time. Stay positive guys!

I fight multiple problems, also. When I was searching for the right drs., I did make up a "resume" of sorts because I was tired of repeating myself every time I saw a dr. For a while I felt like a guinea pig, too. No more for me!

I've seen a neurologist, who said my EEG was abnormal, 'start this med.' Then she, all of a sudden, said I was crazy and stated that the same EEG was not abnormal and wanted to send me to a psychiatrist. So we went. He said "Hey! It's not psychiatric go to a new neurologist." We did. He did one EEG and said I was fine and told us to go to a psychologist. We did at first she said I was definately not a a psychological problem until she saw one of my seizures and noticed I didn't pee my pants. We didn't go to her again after that. Then we went to a regular doctor. He said, after seeing my Todd's paralysis (which has been there the whole time and we have told every single doc about that) and seeing a few seizures he diagnosed me with left temporal epilepsy. He also has a backround in psychiatric disorders and epilepsy. Hmmm....interesting....

PS: I did edit the poll to correct the spelling
of Psychiatrist.

Thumbs up

I'm going to brag .....
I see a young woman who has D.O. instead of M.D. after her name.
She sees only adults with epilepsy. Well, when she's not instructing at a medical university .
She acts like I'm her most important patient and every word I say is important.

Let's see, I gotta think. I've actually trimmed down the list of doctors, because the one (pain management) was not accomplishing what I needed him to.

I see a GP who practices both mainstream and alternative medicine, AND can do my pain management, he takes care of my thyroid and fibro, too; I see a neurologist who manages my seizures, carpal tunnel, migraines and whatnot; AND I see rehab doctor who is also a chiropractor who also practices pain management and is in the same office as my GP and takes care of most everything else. So, I've got it pretty well covered with just the 3.

Of course, I've got the OB/GYN I see once in a blue moon, and the podiatrist who I have to hit up every 5 years or so, and the eye doctor every couple of years.....

I see a GP for regular stuff & my neurologist for the E. but get this..... He just referred me to a neuropsychiatrist for Neurofeedback treatments. It'll take a few months before he gets back from vacation & a few more because I'm a new patient but I'm still excited about it.

I told my mom about it & she said my dad (who was a psychologist)in the 70's used to argue with people in the medical profession that NFB was a valid form of treatment when most medical professionals didn't accept it.

Neurologist

I see a Neurologist. My doctor is a grumpy doctor. I don't particulary like him at all. What is D.O. anyway?
