Exclamation Do not post any reference to suicide in this forum

Unfortunately, from time to time we get members here who are feeling a bit low and post comments intimating a desire to commit suicide or otherwise die. Most of the time, it is not a serious threat and only a plea for attention.

If you are feeling that low, please call an emergency support hotline - do *not* post about it in the forum. All references to suicide will be removed.

We are not trained to handle people who are serious about suicide.

Correct. It is best not to bring up any discussions of
this matter for obvious reasons because people tend
to take things the wrong way / meaning.

People who are under extreme emotional distress needs
to follow with what Bernard has posted; and I will
explain why: It is not a good time or choice to make
decisions or be reading stuff of this nature during
this "critical time" for people tend to make poor
decisions, judgment calls, and so on.

So it's none the wiser for such person to be directed
to call their Doctors, go to the Emergency Room, or
even to contact below banner (by clicking or phoning)
if necessary:

Thumbs up

IMHO - all people who come to CWE have their own stress just having "E". I am sure there are support sites for this "other" topic. We all care DEEPLY for everyone's needs, hurts, concerns, but "that" is a subject that could "set off" stressed people. Many people here have deep seated emotional pain.

I agree with this instruction.

It should be discussed with professionals. IMHO.

I let my emotions take over and yes it did take me calling a number to seek help. Bernard is right and I'm very sorry for the comment I made, I hope you except my apology.
Sincerely,
Kimberly

Talking Thank- you

WOW u take 120 mg of phenobarbital, thats alot. I would like to thank you for your comment but my therapist said. (well for arguments sake) my device malfunctioned and caused me to have a adverse reaction: my reaction was awful, I am not that person, I'm happy have a great family. They have now added some meds to as the doctor says keep me mellow till my lawyers can get through all the red tape. LOL I appreciate your comment, Thank-you again, but my 5 beautiful daughters and my wonderful husband stepped in and took me somewhere, I got help and so should others if those thoughts arise. I will now be advocate against it, before I was like your body your choice; now it's all in gods hands he'll take care of it with a little help from me and my family. GOD BLESS
Sincerely,
Kimberly Wessells-Darlin

I disagree heavily, if this is a forum you shoud offer free speech, especially in something called "the padded room". Sometimes people just need to vent and hear positivity. I've been "suicidal" for 14 years or at least suicidal tendencies/lack of self preservation. Thats life for some people, censorship isn't freedom.

I agree, there should be NO censorship on a forum like this, especially in the "padded room" (I would glean from this name that this area IS where one writes about that stuff!) I too get feelings of a destructive nature...that's just the way it is for me. If things get TOO bad, then I will make the march to the hospital and have myself committed, (thinking about it today as a matter of fact). Having seizures is a VERY life disrupting thing and for some, it is just another burden added to an already overburdened persona.

Peace, ya'll!

CWE wasn't built to be a bastion of free speech for the world. It was built to foster a support community where folks living with epilepsy (whether directly or caring for another) can find support. As with any group of people, there are some topics which are inappropriate.

I understand this policy, but I still think that more than one person on her could have stabilizing things to say - things that keep critical people around until they are able to get to see a professional who can take it from there.

The problem is more complex than that. We have a lot of members that are struggling with depression of their own. Discussions on this subject can be igniting tinderboxes that no one was aware of before.

Folks who are seriously considering suicide don't need to be posting about it in this forum community. They should get professional help.

Folks wanting to post about it for attention should find other avenues to connect with the forum community.

I'm not saying it has to be the pillar of suicidal rage or a suicide hotline, i'm just saying if you're offering support then give it. You don't have to post a reply to someone who says their down but u shouldn't stop them from posting or letting people reply. If you think letting them post is bad i believe it's worse to deny them. Often times as i said people just wanna "symbolically cry" or just vent and they may speak of suicide or tendencies in harming themselves. Heck i went through a cutting period for years in my life just to let the pain out. Luckily i have better ways to vent now. I'm just saying i've been around people my whole life who are distraught or ill at least at some point and i definately believe it's worse to be blind to them then it is to hear em out and offer a pat on the back. Worst case scenario letting them post lets others know who can refer them to something and be positive for them but hey it's you're forum. I've just never been one to deny someone their opinion, view etc.
