follow-up appointment

well, i had my fallow-up, six weeks later appointment with my new neurologist. today. it went well i think. not alot was discussed because the tests that he wanted done (i.e. mri, eeg) had to wait till my ins. is straightened out. but he is not happy with how often i am having my Grands (3 in 6 wks) so he gave me a new med. to take and i just want to see if anyone else has or is taking it. it's lamotrigine 25mg. from the paper work i was given it seems pretty harmless, but looks can be deceiving, and i just want to make sure i'm not in for a hell-storm of side effects. if any one out there has or is on this med. let me know your experience please. the more i know the better.
other than that the visit was a good one. he liked the fact that i brought the notes that i have been taking the last six weeks and even put them in my file. the next appointment is in six more weeks and hopefully by then all the tests will be done so more can be done at the next visit. i'll keep everyone posted.
angela

This was the third anti-epileptic drug that Rebecca was put on, and it caused terrible muscle and body aches. She couldn't get out of bed. Quite difficult for an athlete. It also began to display signs of a rash, so she was taken off of it.

You could check out this site to see what others say about it:

Hiya

I have been taking quite a high dose of Lamotrigine for about 8 years and have had no side effects until recently when my dose was increased from 400mg to 450mg I am now starting to get some dizzy spells but nothing bad. I guess I have been fairly lucky.

Yeah,

lamotrigine is the generic for Lamictal. And I took Lamictal for over 7 years, almost 8 years. I didn't start having any problems until the 7th year. Then, I started gaining a huge amount of weight, had some issues with my temper, mood swings.....stuff like that. It was time to get rid of it...

Hi Meetz

It is interesting that you started to have side effects on Lamictal after about the same amount of years as me, I thought that it was due to the increased dose, you have given me food for thought.

What dosage of Lamictal did you take?
