Kinda feelin' down... :(

As some of you know, I suffered major hearing loss in May. It just happened overnight. I went to bed hearing and woke up unable to hear my own voice. Nope, I don't use headphones, earbuds, and have not been exposed to loud noises. Since then, my hearing is coming back slowly. I can hear the keys on the keyboard when I type, as well as the rattle of my car keys and vitamin bottles. I am regaining the upper pitches. I can now hear my hubbies voice...although he has to be within two feet of me. But hey, that's better then the 3 inches away from my ear that it was at the end of May. It's just sooo frustrating at time. I've been reading like crazy this summer. And I know why. When I'm reading, nobody interrupts me....so it's actually made me more anti-social. I don't want to make everyone feel like they have to talk louder or repeat themselves...so it's just easier to bury my nose in a book. As frustrating as it's been for my family, I sometimes think it's more so for me. Thank heavens for closed captioning on television...although there's alot that you miss when you can't hear the character's tone of voice. I know ...I know...my hearing is getting better....and that's a good sign. Who knows, I may end up getting it back. But sometimes, I feel so frustrated because it's taking so long......and the info I found online said it can take 6 months to a year to get it back....and then I may not get it all back. And that is just so frustrating. *sigh* Just needed to vent I guess. Thanks for listening.....

Good Morning Skilly,

Sorry you are feeling down and frustrated. It's a good thing you can unload here though. Sometimes it just helps to dump it all out!! I think we all go through out stages of feeling depressed/blue/mopey..whatever you want to call it. And all for different reasons. I try to always think that I will hopefully feel better soon. Being positive really helps. I am so happy to hear that you are beginning to be able to hear more and more. On the flip side, I can understand how it must be very frustrating for you too. But I am so glad it is improving!! Especially your husband's voice. I wish I could get my nose in a book. I love reading!!! But for some reason, I haven't been able to lately. It just bothers me. Maybe I need my eyes checked. The kids go back to school next week, so maybe I will try to crack a good book then. We have just been busy this summer. But is has been a sun time! Some yrs. they seem really long, but this one has flown by. The heat has been awful lately and I am so ready for cool/cold weather. I just feel better with it. Anyways..I hope you feel better!! You will!! Just give yourself some time. And enjoy your books too! : )) Reading is a great stress reliever for me. Sort of "me" time, you know? I find it so relaxing. Feel free to unload any time. We are all entitled to it! Have a good day Skilly!!

Michelle : )

Hi Skillefer ~ I hate hearing that YOU are down.

What you write always means a lot to ME :-) I sure am glad you can keep writing!

And it's good news that things are getting better even if it's slow going.
I am wishing you the best - the very best. God speed.

It's a good sign that you are getting some of your hearing back.
I know when I had my accident that seriously injured my arm, the depression was awful and even worse were the daily pity parties I threw for myself. But my Lord and Savior continued to cross my path with those who were in much worse situations than myself and made me look at my own situation differently. Be strong and know you are making progress.

Talking Hey Skilly!!

I'm sorry you're so bummed out about the hearing, darlin'. It's hard, I do understand that. I've had to watch my son lose his hearing over the years.... and never get it back.

Time is on your side, I think......treasure what you have. And know that your hubby will love you, no matter what.

(((HUGS)))

Meetz

PS......I'm bummin' too. My neurologist appointment didn't go too well.

Thank you! I guess I just needed to unload. I'm feeling better today. And I'm lucky....33% of the people who lose their hearing like I did don't get it back at all. So At least I'm able to hear. Maybe not as well as I'd like....but I can hear. And...my doc didn't prescribe any meds. But instead told me to keep taking the Niacin and B-12. So, at least I'm not having to take more meds. Anyway, thank you guys so much. It really means alot.
