More seizures while sick

I have strep throat and i have been having more seizures. I know i have read on here that some of you have more seizures if you are sick. Is there anything you do or that can be done to help that? My med, keppra, is working well I went from nightly seizures to 3 -5 a month untill now.

Honestly, for me, the most important thing I can do while sick is to make sure that I take better care of myself and get even more rest. I've been lucky and dodged the flu. So I didn't have to worry about meds going through my system faster then normal or getting upchucked out.

Antibiotics

do change the flora and fauna of your gut, which also affects your body's ability to process your meds. Think about it.....the antibiotics are in there killing off EVERYTHING so your body can start over. What may have been in your stomach before to aid your meds in digesting in your stomach and spreading through your bloodstream just isn't there.

You might want to take some probiotics to start your stomach on the path to healing, and keeping your meds in. Don't eat a lot, just in small meals. Keep yourself hydrated--lots of water, tea (I prefer herbal), and soup is a good thing too.

If you're not already taking a vitamin, such as a daily one, or even just some vitamin C, you might really consider it.

Take care. I hope you feel better soon.

I've always had more seizures when I am sick even with a cold. Stress on the body is a great inhibitor and I have always been told to take more time to rest and get someone to take care of me when I am sick.
Lately I've had a few sinus infections and even when I wanted so badly to take a sudefed just to get some sleep, I didn't because I knew that when I did, the meds would just make it that much more difficult for my body to re-cooperate because of the anti-epileptic drug's I'm already taking.

If you can at all possible, try something natural or something that helps boost your immune system like Vit C etc.
For my sinus infections I have found that a neti-pot does wonders and I don't need any drugs when using it.
