It never stops

My mind never stops. It never reaches a dead end. I'm writing myself to death. Post-its all over the place. Ideas, dialouge, editing.... I forget to eat. I don't even get a break in my sleep. Plot long dreams. I do manage time to worry that I offend people with my energy. It's a lonely place to be. My mind is always wide awake despite a body needing to sleep. Physically exhausted and mindfully alert. There's no balance. This can't be good for a person with Epilepsy. Suggest meditation? Impossible right now. I can't jump out of myself. I see my avatar and wonder how dare I smile, here. Cinnabar

well i can see your perspective from the other end of the rope. you can not get your mind to stop and i just can't get mine to keep going it's like one of wined up toys we all had as kids. i can wined it up and it may go for a short burst but then it is done. last night i was having a short conversation with my husband about the friggin' weather of all things and i got stopped in my tracks because i could not for the life of me remember even how to describe the word humid. theses episodes have become fequent enoughand one behind the other enough that my husband finally said something last night. he smiled and giggled a little, i think he was trying to lighten the mood and said, "you okay?" and for some reason, mostly my own embaresment, i replied, "no, i'm not." and left the room. i would give anything to fiinish a thought without having to write it down or having to have someone remind me what it was i was talking about. theses thoughts here seem clear and to run on for ever, but they take so much time to put together, and i have to read and reread things just to keep my thoughts going in the same direction.
okay enough about me, to you now. have to tried meditation? not yoga or any of that humdrum stuff but really serious meditation? i use it for my migraines because i hate taking the meds i have to and will try anything else available first. it is also a good stress balancer. you don't have to do it for long periods of time or anything like that. the key is clearing your mind. it takes work. but i concentrate on the sound a tv makes when it has snow on the screen and only that noise. it may not work for you, but it really is the only calming suggestion that i have i hope it helps some. as always i am sending you healing, healthy thoughts, your friend.

Thornton K.

Psychologist, Center for Health Psychology, South Plainfield, New Jersey, USA.

This article presents a new approach to the remediation of memory deficits by studying the electrophysiological functioning involved in memory and applying biofeedback techniques. A Quantitative EEG (QEEG) activation database was obtained with 59 right-handed subjects during two auditory memory tasks (prose passages and word lists). Memory performance was correlated with the QEEG variables. Clinical cases were administered the same QEEG activation study to determine their deviations from the values that predicted success for the reference group. EEG biofeedback interventions were designed to increase the value (to normal levels) of the specific electrophysiological variable that was related to successful memory function and deviant in the subject. Case examples are presented that indicate the successful use of this intervention style in normal subjects and in subjects with brain injury; improvement cannot be fully explained by spontaneous recovery, given the time postinjury. Five cases (two normal, two subjects with brain injury, and one subject who had stereotactic surgery of the hippocampus for seizure control) are presented. Improvements ranged from 68% to 181% in the group of patients with brain injury, as a result of the interventions.

Cool I do this, too

I can sit, and write, and write, and write..........

I've written seventy five pages to one of my books in one day before. Not that they were great, mind you......

I believe it's called hypergraphia, or something like that......I don't really remember.......

What about going for a walk, getting a breath of fresh air, to force yourself to stop?????

Thanks. I think I'll try TV in the background. Meditation. I'll give it a try next week. Thanks for all the healing you send my way. I believe energy can be transfered.

... and then get a high from editing. I'll try your suggestions. The other day I walked to the sound. Only ten minutes away. But I couldn't stay long because I had to get back to my writing. The other writing site panned out. Can you tell me more about Helium? Always Laurie

Hmmmmmm.

Helium's a neat site. You can write for fun, OR you can write to get paid.

There are constantly opportunities to sell articles to publishers (see link for examples) http://www.helium.com/marketplace

There are also contests of different sorts usually going on. (see link for examples) http://corp.helium.com/marketingcontest/list

Right now, there's a summer long contest that's not listed on that list called the Reward-a-thon. Based on certain criteria (rating and writing stars that you earn for articles that you rate and write), you can make up to $3 per article that you turn in.

There are forums where the writers get together to chat, ask for help, someone we know makes cheesecake (& more) under her pen name in the Cafe, all sorts of stuff...... http://www.helium.com/smf/index.php

Go check it out.....

Toodles!

Something that I found helped me was when I had gone to the gym. After a few months I felt more mentally alert but calmer. It was a great way to work out my stresses as well but I was shocked at how much more focused I was as well.

It did take close to 6 months but it was worth the wait.
