Poem - My Life

I'm chatting away
with my friends
when I taste metal
and the world goes grey
I speak with no words
then - NOTHING
Time stands still
For me.
(Around me panic,
People swarming)
I open my eyes
I hurt - where?
All over,I'm not sure.
Green uniformed people
asking me questions
I can't find answers for.
The world falls away
as I drift off to sleep.
My Life.

Boy, that says it all for many of us, doesn't it? The first part of your poem resonates with me; the feeling of a seizure coming on. You have a way with words. Thank you for sharing with us.

The same as Meetz, I am not really into poetry.

However, this one really caught my attention. It mixed both the symptoms and the fear/confusion of a seizure. I feel it is the fear/confusion that is hardest for others to understand.

Thanks for the post.

I've been focusing on prose lately, but since my first seizure, I've given thought to writing a poem about Epilepsy and it's postictal state. I find the prospect of writing such an intense account of our experience a true challenge. Reading your poem gives me incentive to give it a try. When? ...and how to find the words is my big question. Your poem tells the story of having missed a beat in one's own world. Thank you for the inspiration.

Always Laurie
