I can handle the eyelid thing........that happens when I don't drink enough Water.......OMG, I just figured it out...........I haven't had my regular amount of Water................in over a week because of my stupid TEETH...........

Take care! I'll be all right, I'm just a little off-base today.........

Wish we could send energy through the keyboard to make sure that you don't have any odd sensations.

Probiotics are always good to add when taking antibiotics.

I have been trying one called Natren. Can get expensive, but you could ask your doctor to prescribe one, and at least you could get it written off on insurance. Some doctors I am hearing are actually suggesting it without being asked, which is good to know.

There just is clearly a connection between intestinal health and neurological health. For some, if that is out of balance, it can cause considerable irritating behaviors.

I don't remember if you mentioned what kind of surgery you are having. However, make sure none of your dental work contains any amalgam fillings or mercury. They should use only high grade composite materials in your mouth. (I have a mouth full of "silver" which of course if what our insurance will pay for. You are on your own if you want composite).

Good luck with it all.

Hey Meetz - take care of yourself. Drink that water. With this heat, you need a lot more. Also, eat a banana if you have one. Electrolyte imbalance can do this same thing.

The way the weather has been, you shouldn't need to look very far to find water in Indiana. Looks like the worst has been south of you.

Take care,
Your Ohio Buddy

Hi Mr. B!

I saw your post on WebMD! And, YOU'RE WELCOME. Just stating the TRUTH......Hehehe.

So far, the twitching is limited to only my eye today. The lower lid only, so that part is tolerable. Sometimes it's the whole thing.

Yesterday was BANANAS. (Like the pun there, Buckeye?) It all made sense after I thought about it, though. I haven't been able to eat or drink right in some time now, and dental surgery is tomorrow, barring any complications. Normally, I drink 3 liters of water a day, and I've been lucky if I can drink 2 glasses a day for the past 2 weeks. But, I've been eating 4 bananas a day for the last 6 days......URGH....to keep the penicillin in...

I think I'm gonna be OK...........

Take care!

Meetz

Oh! Meetz. I've yet much, much to learn about Epilepsy but there is one thing I do know...the epileptic should STAY AWAY from anti-biotics, per my doctor's instruction. I don't know the ins and outs of the reasoning but it's on my list to explore. Maybe, this has something to do with your twitching? Why not give your neurologist a ring? A net search is good, too. For the past few days I've been twitching. Feel like a puppet with tight strings pulling my arms and legs in dirctions out of my control. The eyelid thing, too. Always have had that even before my diagnosis. Always Laurie

well with all the scum in education then I think it highly unlikely most folks will be able to avoid antibiotics at least for the forseeable future until we can get rid of them. I take antibotics alot and have no problems with them. I think this demonstrates that everyone is affected by epilepsy a bit differently.

Hey think when you are having the shakes that you are getting your exercise and I been trying to lose some weight who hasn't so why make a bigger deal over something than need be. Caution is advisable but terror has no known purpose and doesn't help when the serious stuff starts. There is nothing you can do then why worry about it much? Unless you enjoy freaking out or something. When I think I'm going crazy I pack light knowing it will be a short trip

I was so overwhelmed when diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy I was not in the position to ask intellegent questions. I just listened to what my neurologist had to say.

Here is a quote from the EPILESPY FOUNDATION "Cipoflaxacin, like all other anit-biotics should never be used without specification recommended of a physician. Aside from it's potential for seizures in suseptible individuals it can lead to bacterial resistance when the drug is really needed"

As to why it can serve potential harm , more specifically, I'd have to do more probing. I see my psychiatrist this week, who has a minor in neurology, so maybe he can offer some insight. My neurologist seems to have little time to answer these kinds of questions over the phone. Just emergency calls. When I discover more, I'll be happy to share with you.

I would still run this by your doctor. Who knows? Maybe he/she sees that it's not harmful to your specific type of epilepsy. I'm just taking heed to what he told me, having temporal lobe epilepsy. Always Laurie

LightningBolt Epilepsy is sometimes hard to diagnose!!!

Everybody,
Epilepsy can be easy to diagnose or very hard to diagnose! I lived with epilepsy for 31yrs. And I have to travel to other cities to get a good doctor that can help me. When I first started having seizures could find a good local doctor to diagnose me. So while I was in the the local Odessa Womens and Childrens Hospital having tonic clonic seizures, and other seizures and was having one after another I was in statsus epilepsy non stop. Then my parents found a pediatric nuerologist from San Antonio who would see me most drs' wouldn't touch until this nuero. saw me and diagnose me with right temporal lobe epilepsy and cerebral palsy. I don't remember hardly anythin from age 2 -12yrs. old because of all the seizures and brain abnormalities. Also my seizures changed quite often from tonic clonic all the way down to simple partials and now I have complex partial and simple partial, tonic clonic with all these different seizures it causes me to have alot of memory loss. It has made it difficult to to help me but we've found one in San Antonio when I was a child and now that I am a adult I see great epileptoligst/neurologist in Dallas, TX. We just have to be as strong as we can and support each other daily So I always pray and hope that new research will benefit for all of us.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL'
David Hair

If he has no time to answer your questions why not get another neurologist? Find someone you are comfortable with and get rid of him. Take any medical advice with a huge bag of salt. If you have any questions then I'll hit the books and get back to you. I've been studying the human brain since I was 11 and I'm 31 now since most people know I'm not brain dead so I had to have learned something after 20 years. You are an expert on your own case. I have temporal lobe epilepsy too. In addition to other disorders. I'll do some research and see what I find. I know how to find just about everything there is out there. If I don't know I'll find it one way or the other.

I sometimes need antibiotics because I get sick and stay sick until I get atibiotics.

Just because the epilepsy foundation says so doesn't mean it's fact.
