Lip-smacking

I read that lip-smacking can be a type of seizure activity. I was just wondering, though: How do you distinguish between the regular lip-smacking that any infant might do and the lip-smacking that is actually a seizure?

My son was doing a lot of lip-smacking when he was about two months old but has since stopped. At first, I did not think anything of it but thought the way he did it was kind of odd. For example, he would be crying and obviously uncomfortable, yet continue to smack his lips.

If my son did this, I have no memory that I thought it odd. That said, when he had his grand mal in July, and most recent a few weeks ago, he swallowed repeatedly....Was obvious that it was related to the seizure.
