- I have had them for 11 yrs and turns out they are hereditary...but being adopted and my real dad being adopted...yeah...no help there....Petit mal for the most part that are like severe muscle spasms...I will jerk and drop what I am holding.. Sometimes my knees buckle....my eyes black out and others say I go into a blank stare for a moment and I will lose train of thought. Then every now and then not often since topamax there are the grand mal seizures....
