    Seizure Background
My son Aiden now age 8 was born premature with Grade 4 intraventricular hemorhage on the left side of his brain. EEG showed seizure activity as an infant and he was put on phenobarbital. At 9 months he had a febrile seizure. At age three he began having seizures again. From age 3 to age 6 he averaged several seizures per year. These were status elipticus type seizres , seizures that dont stop on there own. He had to be heavely medicated with valium to stop these seizures. The doses of valium were so high that he had to be put on a ventilator to keep him breathing. He once slept for 30 hours straight from the valium.

Thankfully he had not had this type of seizure in two years. His seizures are partial complex and have been slowly increasing in frequency.
