- Seizure Background
- I developed seizures after a febrile seizure when I was 14 months old. I was not diagnosed until I was 8, with TLE, in the mid 1960's. Growing up with seizures as a child at a time of lots of misunderstanding, was not easy. I ran the gammut on schools as there were no special ed classes yet in the local school system and labeling was very prominent. I went on to college after high school and 20 years ago I had successful surgery which ended my seizures. Since then, I have become what I think of as an advocate for the disabled community, particularly those who have epilepsy/seizures, because I understand what they have been thru/are going thru.
