    Seizure Background
I am 32 years old and have been suffering from partial epileptic seizures for the past 25 years this followed encephalitis when I was 18 months old. I currently get approximately ten seizures a week which are grouped into clusters spanning two to three days. Since then I have tried nearly all anti-convulsants (currently on Lamotrogine, Lyrica & Clobazam), have had unsuccessful temporal lobe surgery at the Walton Centre in Liverpool, and have just stopped the ketogenic diet after three years which had a positive effect for the first six months. I am currently attempting to relieve anxiety which may bring on my seizures by trying herbal treatment at a local private centre. This however is fairly expensive costing approximately £150 a month and has only really had a positive effect by giving me better sleep patterns. My life is very restricted as I have regular small seizures where I lose consciousness of surroundings, nausea, memory loss, anxiety and general feelings of anxiety. I have just been approved for VNS surgery in Sheffield, hopefully before Christmas (2007).

    Lamotorogine 200mg x 3, Lyrica 225mg x 2, Clobazam 10mg x 2, Melatonin (sleeping aid) 3-6mg at night. Diazapam rarely.
