Elaine ~ Happy "belated" birthday.

Hi Elaine,
I read your post about osteopersis and long term use of anti-epileptic drugs.
I know about all the side effects of anti-epileptic drugs as I have most of them.
The one that really bothers me the most is that after long term use (29yrs in my case) it causes a severe decrease in bone density. The dilantin eats up all the calcium in your bones.

I also have Ulcerative Colitis which I also take meds for,and I can't consume dairy products,
Dilantin is the only proven medication so far that does not have a negative reaction with my UC meds (Mesasal) therefore I have taken vitamine C, D and calcium vitamins as well as a magnesium supplement for two years now to help combat osteoperosis.

Over the holidays I DID have lots of coffee, not much booze (except in my coffee), no candy and no over eating.

All the caffine with the added stress was a contributing factor.

I never even gave it a thought cuz coffee is a daily routine for me but I really went overboard this time cuz of the "Bailey's" in my coffee.

No change of anti-epileptic drugs or no colitis flare-up.
The aura did go away the next day and everything is fine now.

Hi ~ This feels really weird to me.
I had an aura today, in fact, I'm having it right now.
I'm aware of what's going non around me but I can't respond.
(I can type though-but very slow)

I went out for breakfast with my family like I do every Sunday (nothing out of the ordinary) and when I got home I noticed that everything was (is) moving in slow motion and I feel light headed but what's really weird ~ I'm also having an outer body experience. It feels like I'm outside looking in at myself. I feel a headache comming.

My first granmal seizure was in 1979, then nothing 'til 2002, 2004 with lots of petit mals in between.
My wife says I should go and lay down.

Do you think it's because the stress of the holidays is over and the body is in more of a relaxed mode ~ the body's natural defenses are down, the epilepsy becomes more vulnarable?

Hi Elaine, thanx for responding. Where am I located in the world? ~ Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, (that's near Toronto).
I have no plans for Christmas ~ just quiet at home with my 2 adult kids.

I'd love to be a friend! The more the merrier eh? I hope all is well with you, and that you are looking forward to Xmas and New Year?! Sorry to hear that you are freezing your nellies off over there, actually, I didn't notice whereabouts you are in the world?

We are off down south for Xmas to stay with my dad and his partner, so we are really looking forward to it, we leave tomorrow morning (Tues 23rd Dec) I'm not sure how long we are away for, but it will just be good to get away for a while. What are you doing for Xmas?

It will be great to keep in touch, let me know how you are doing when you get the chance and thanks for the friend request, it'll be fun!
