About Me

  • About Gary Hyink
    Seizure Background
I had a major stroke in 1986. I had my first seizure in 1990. My wife and I moved to New York in 1996. I've had "hundreds of seizures" since then. I've been rescued and taken to nine different hospitals in the New York, NY area. I've been rescued on subway platforms, in subway cars, on the street, on sidewalks, in buildings, in our home and other people's homes. I just had the one week epilepsy EEG test in NYU Hospital, because my neurologist - Daniel J Luciano - wants to find out if I'm a candidate for the surgery. Fortunately; I was able to lay in the hospital bed and be taken care of by a great hospital staff, while listening to great music, because, shortly after they stopped my medicine; I had 7-8 seizures. It took a week to recover from those seizures. An Advanta twin bed by Hill-rom (I was impressed by the hospital bed, because it was so comfortable, so I wrote it down), Pink Floyd, the Allman Brothers, Bachman Turner Overdrive, good food, a great hospital the love of my wife helped me make it home.

Hang in there and if you fall down, get back up! Gary Hyink

Here is a link to an article I wrote about myself, when I was asked to do so:

I encourage everyone to apply the last paragraph to your lives:

"Life is hard. Hang in there, if you're struggling. Ask the Lord for help. Have faith, because if He is willing to bless me, I'm sure that He is willing to bless you as well.

I've been blessed many ways, but I couldn't have included that in the article, because that would have turned people's thoughts away from where I was trying to direct them. I encourage you all to "Hang in there", do a Google search on my name and click on everything on my web pages: http://garyhyink.com I'm on a rather amazing life journey and that's how you'll meet many other people who have been affected by epilepsy, strokes, homelessness and other. Sometimes I think that God must have a sense of humor, because he made me the only Gary Hyink.

    Have a great day,

    Gary
