- Seizure Background
- I have JME epilepsy. This runs in our family, but I have the most severe case. I am pretty much seizure free at present after the past year (Depakote 500 2x a day, Keppra 500 mg 2x a day and Zonegran 300mg) and Diamox once a month, taking provigil every once in a while for focus. I've tried many medications since I was 17 including topamax (Top made me loose 60 lbs of needed weight after Depakote gain), however, it made me loose my memory as well and I could never think properly. I went off of Topamax and back on Depakote. I've had two major car accidents b/c of seizures, one when I was first diagnosed as a teen and the other b/c the docs were experimenting with meds to get me off of Depakote. The most recent accident had a big impact on my career and I had to take almost a year off. This along with the Topamax = no good for work. I was laid off of the second job b/c I had to take so much time off of work. Trying to move forward now that I'm better. Any advice or input is appreciated! Have a great day!
