    Seizure Background
I began having seizures at about 9 years old. It was a few months before I said anything. I couldn't hardly explain to my parents what was happening. They simply thought it was something I was perhaps imagining. Until one day in the 4th grade when a teacher witnessed my staring into space and not responding to her, that's where it really came out. The first doctor said I had hypoglycemia. For 6 months I was on a diet. Seizures still were coming. At the age of 10 I finally went to the Texas Children's Hospital and there it was determined I had epilepsy. Ever since, 30 years later, I am still having seizures. Yet now, grand mal.
