- Seizure Background
- First seizure Oct 28,08 at age 18; er docs put me on genetic dilantin 500mg. had eeg was abnormal and showed characteristics of someone who had generalized epilepsy. keep having seizures on the 28th, or the 29th; saw a neuro..put me up to 800mg genetic dilantin...which mad me shake terribly at 500mg so 800mg was worse. finally after 7 months neuro doc put me on 300mg reg dilantin(still shaked) and 200mg topiramate had a couple break thru seizures...which made it very hard to concentrate at school...finally after a 15 minute seizure at school which was again on the 28th...i begged the ER doc to take me off dilantin and he put me on genetic keppra. which has seemed to help havent have a seizure yet, though i feel like crap around the 28th of the month. so its coming up on my year anniversary oct 28, 09 who knows if ill have a seizure to kick it off or not..lol. but ive had about 20 seizures...some at school, in the shower, doing the dishes, at the jym (which i cant go back now i have too much anxiety) , thanksgiving...yeah.
1/08/2010update: So my one year anniversary has come and gone. Im going on now 1yr and 3 months. I have recently moved back to NY and have gotten a wonderful Neuro (ive only seen him once). He has me on Genetic Keppra 1000mg twice a day; which I have to take religiously at two certain times of the day. Before seeing my new doc I brought my total of seizures up to about 30, give or take a few. I had one seizure that basically knocked me out for 3 days, my family thought I had a stroke or something horrible. I wasnt even waking up to go to the bathroom, I wouldnt respond to anyone. Finally after the 3rd day I just woke up like nothing had happened. I have a lot of confidence in my new doc , he is listening to me and really actually seems like he wants to help me.
