- Seizure Background
- I was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 12, after having my first seizure, a grand mal, while home alone. The last thing I remember is answering the door; my older brother's friend came over, but no one was home except me.
I'm 54 now, married, with husband & two grown kids. I've never let E rule my life and I won't now. But seizures are more frequent & severe. I can't drive & I'm on short term disability due to a very bad t/c-did a lot of damage to myself. My work is very stressful & I realize my work is a trigger (I'm a c/s rep for a Mental Illness insurance co.-very rewarding but very stressful) Afraid I may lose my job due to my last few seizures. When younger, I had petit mal seizures, catamenial, or partial and drop seizures, but for the last 30 years they've been grand mal/tonic-clonic with no warning or aura. So far no mixture of drugs has controlled them. Intractible seizures, photosensitive, nocturnal and daytime.

- Dilantin down to 300 mg now (was at 400mg), & 1000 mg bid of Keppra. Calcium w/ vitamin D, Magnesium, B6
