    Seizure Background
I was first diagnosed with Epilepsy at the young age of 8yrs old. My first seizure was a grand mal seizure that sent me to the hospital. This was the first time I died and I had to be revived which I have experienced multiple times since my first seizure. I just turned 23yrs old in January, and I still suffer from severe complex partial seizures. I have taken several medications throughout the history of controlling my epilepsy and currently I am looking into trying some alternative remedies. My seizures always start out with a deju vu type of feeling that is known as a 'aura'. Then with my complex partial seizures, I start to make smacking movements with my mouth kinda like I am chewing a piece of gum, but sometimes I chew so fast and aggresively I leave holes in my mouth. After the episode resolves, I never remember too much of it. Although I tend to feel tired and I often have a weird taste in my mouth like sulfur that makes it hard for me to eat anything. Usually after 24hrs and a good nap, Im back to myself the next day. I have lost lots of valuable time in my life due to my epilepsy, I have gone through bouts of depression and I even tried to commit suicide a few times. Today I am doing better though, but it is still very hard for me to cope with my seizures at times. I have experienced every kind of seizure possible and it often makes me wonder why I am still here, but I have a great family and a good man in my life who would miss me very much. I am grateful to have them....always.
