    Seizure Background
My complex partial seizures began in my early teens and were under control for a period. Then, in 2005, the seizures started again and it was determined that I had a tumor on my left temporal lobe. After going through the testing, I had surgery in late February 2006. In May 2006, I began having a different form (simple partial) seizures. Approximately a year after my surgery, I suffered a silent stroke, deeper in the left temporal lobe area. After trying several medication combinations, I have been seizure free since September 21, 2007. I still deal with the side effects and fears, but hopefully, as time goes on, it will get better. As a result of the stroke, I began experiencing major short term memory problems and things have not improved. Ever since the surgery, I deal with panic attacks and severe anxiety - not being comfortable out in public, but I keep trying - one day at a time.
