    Seizure Background
I am the mother of a 35 yr. old daughter who has uncontrolled epilepsy. In the last two months she had just under 1,200 seizures. She seems to be resistant to medications and has at least 3 focal points in her brain so until now surgery has not been an option. She is going into an epilepsy unit for the second time in 3 years to see if surgery, at this point, is an option. Her seizures started when she was 15 but have steadily gotten worse. She started with small simple seizures and now has all types except absence seizures. Her greatest concern at this point is the loss of independence and memory due to the constant seizures. As a parent I am eager to have the opportunity to interact with others who are or care for someone as ill as my daughter.
