- Seizure Background
- I was activated from my Army Reserve unit in 1990 to serve in the Persian Gulf in the first Gulf War. I had been an extremely active marathon runner and in top health. Upon returning home, I started having small staring seizures and pain and ringing in my left ear. After five years, I had a grand mal seizure. Upon waking up from it, I noticed I'd lost my hearing permanently in that ear. I was diagnosed with neuro-Behcet's disease, an illness common in the Middle East. Since then, I've been plagued with occassional aseptic meningitis secondary to that condition and neurological problems including epilepsy. Guess that's my souvenir from my service overseas.
