Yes I feel the same way too at times. I have to remind myself that I had no where to turn at one point, and to share the ride with others that understood what I was talking about was very helpful. I take a break every now and then, when it gets overwhelming. Not too many are attempting the direction that I am going in, so I feel like I am hitting my head against a wall at times. All I can do is share the experience.

I do think that mindset is important in the power of thoughts, aura, and triggers. I wish we could all sit around a table and discuss this. Maybe this summer we can look at pulling a group together to discuss Epilepsy: A New Approach.

We have been seeing a puppy, King Charles over by the skating rink. Both Rebecca and I want one.

Hey Ts,
I told the "Old Man" joke to my step-father. He cracked up laughing. I'll probably have to tell it again and again though. He recently had a stroke...so his memory is not-so-good anymore. At least it will be easy to make him laugh, I've memorized this joke so I can tell it everytime he forgets it. Well, that is...if I can remember it. What a pitiful lot we are!

He can't remember, and I forget that I remembered.

Seizure Background

I've had epilepsy since birth. When I was a few months old it did disappear, but came back to haunt me since I was about 3. They were quite bad and quite often when they started out, but fizzled out as the medication improved. I got to a point in my teens where I was only having a fit approx every 1.5 years, but over the past year they seem to have come back to haunt me. I'm now having a series of fits (1 a day for about 4 days) every couple of weeks. They happen during the night when I go to sleep, and I get awoken by the "aura", so I'm always aware off them happening. I get a kind of electric taste in my mouth, like licking the bottom off a battery, before they happen. In general they last about 20 seconds max, in which I'll get out off bed as I have a voice in my head telling me that I'm going to be stabbed if I don't move. The other kind of seizure I'll have is a more subtle one, where it just refers to the aura feeling, and a speed-up of the heart rate, and then it "fades" away.

Treatments

Carbamazepine (Tegretol), Frisium (Clobazam), and a herbal remedy (Epi-Still) only recently started 2 months ago.
