Hi , My name is Teresa. In my opinion, you are jumping into surgery a little to fast. I have always been like you but since I was 10. Mine started from the Chicken Pox when I was 10.I had the surgery and it worsened mine. I had mine in Seattle at the University of WA. with some of the best Doctors in the world.I have a friend in New Mexico who had B surgery. Came here for it.

    Hey There

I just read that you like literature and music, put it there mate, me too, I love singing, writing lyrics, and generally love music, I did A.Level English Lit at school, and love to read, I find it takes me ages to read a book though, another side effect of this bloody epilepsy business, I find it difficult to concentrate, and I pick the book that I'm reading up the next day, and I'm sort of not sure what's going on, I have to go back a few pages, very frustrating! Hey, maybe one day you will get the chance to read "Fit For Life" if I can get it published, I sure hope so. I write poetry too, I just love words and music, something in common. My fiance isn't too big on words or music, but if we were all the same the world would be pretty boring eh?

Hope you get back to me and I hope that all is well with you?

    Best Regards

About Me

  • About thelmonk
    Seizure Background
I have a scar on my brain, the result of an auto accident 11 years ago, that was the catalyst for my epilepsy. I take 3 medications at the highest dosage to keep my seizures in check. Yet I still have seizures once every other month. I have an entire day full of partial seizures. I get a warning when I wake up in the morning with scars on the inside of mouth from seizures the night before. Those are the only seizures I have. Save the original 3 grand mal seizures I had that were the result of my accident. I have had 2 grand mal seizures since then, as a result of my foolish behavior.

I am changing medications now, to Keppra, and am possibly going to have brain surgery sometime this year. They would cut the scar out of my brain that is the impetus for my seizures.

    That is pretty much it.
    Treatments
I take Phenobarbitol (sp), Topamax, and Tegratol XR. But I am dropping Topamax and beginning Keppra soon.
    Location
    New Mexico
    Interests
    I love literature and music.
