    Seizure Background
I was born in 1946. Seizures started in 1971 after a bad concussion in 1965. They were very violent and I chewed my tongue and was disorientated for hours afterward. There was blood everywhere. Slept for many hours after. That continued off and and on about once every 2 or 3 months for about 10 years. They would only occur during my sleep , usually early morning. My best friend finally got me to go to the best hospital in Detroit (Ford) for tests and nothing was found. I went through all the different drugs for years available (to no avail) until I saw a psychiatrist who put me on Depakote which diminished the effects of the seizures dramatically but they would still occur every 2 or 3 months but without the blood and much less muscle pain afterward. In the last few years I have thrown in a little xanax from my wife's bipolar prescription and the nocturnal seizures have been so mild I can recover within less than than 30 minutes compared to 2 or 3 hours before. I really believe people with nocturnal seizures (which can disrupt your life and scare the hell out of you) might benefit with the combination of depakote and xanax. In what combination should be up to experimental trials. Epilepsy experts.....take heed! It has helped me a lot.
    Treatments
I take depakote mainly (250 mg twice a day and xanax when I feel like a seizure might happen)
    Location
    Mount Morris, MI
    Interests
I am a teacher (high school) and have a hard time adjusting to the time of day when it happens early
