- I have lived with E since I was nine years old, My older sister Linzi noticed that sometimes when she was talking to me I would just switch off and not because I wasn't interested lol, my parents took me too the Drs where I was referred to hospital I was diagnosed as having petit mal (absences)
I was put on a very high dose of Eplim which made me very ill and caused me to have head aches, depression, my hair fell out and the Absences got worse! my Dad took me back to the consultant and said that I really needed to come off these meds as I was just a different person and the consultant claimed that my Dad was neglecting my medical needs!!! Think the Doc was something out of a horror film so we changed consultants and hospitals and thats when things got better I was off the Eplim and as I was to scared to try any other medication I just coped with the 20 aday sometimes more abs when I was 15 I decided that as I was taking my GCSEs it was about time that I had another go at this Meds thing I saw a great Proff who wanted to try me on Lamotrogine/lamactol but when he wrote to my Dr to sort this out my Dr said we don't usually put people on that med as its to expensive (god I know how to pick em lol) so he gave me Tegratol which I decided not to take then got a phone call a few days later say can you stop taking the Tegratol right away and come back to the surgery and I have been on Lamot ever since it seems to do the job just about.
Have had 2 TCs about 2years ago in a big super market during the Xmas rush but hay ho never mind such is life. I try my hardest not to let my Epilepsy get in the way of my life and sometimes I forget that it can be a problem for some people as it doe not bother me it just happens to be there. We might only get one chance at life so I would rather enjoy mine and have fun x - Treatments
