My first one was Aug. 14, 2011. I was shopping in Wal Mart with my sister doing last minute school shopping. I told here that I need to check my sugar because I did not feel well and the next thing I knew I woke up in the ER. I do not remember nothing. They did a CT and it came back ok and some blood work and my electroyltes was all missed up so they said that they was going to keep me over night but I did not get out until Tuesday! I bit my tongue very bad. My muscles and body hurt for days and was tired for days also. I can not drive for six months.

My daughters seizures are connected to nutrition and blood sugar levels.
Her blood tests have shown that she is high risk for diabetes, but she has made major changes to her nutritional choices.

Hi breyecutie, welcome to CWE!

I know that post-seizure feeling. I tend to feel as if I'm covered with bruises, whether I actually am or not. The exhaustion and the soreness and the fuzziness do fade.

Low electrolytes can be a seizure trigger, so it does sound like that was the cause of yours. For my first seizure, I had barely eaten for 3 days, and had not been sleeping much either, so low blood sugar was a trigger for me. Have you been put on anti-seizure medication? Did the doctors do an EEG or refer you to a neurologist? It's possible that your seizure could be a one-off, but it depends on the diagnosis.

Best,
Nakamova

Hi breyecutie,

I do have epilepsy and Type 1 diabetes, so I know the feeling. Do you also have diabetes and do you check your glucose regularly? Do you see and endocrinologist? Did they do an A1c test in the hospital? or any more neuro tests? As Nakamova said, low electrolytes can trigger seizures as can low glucose levels for some. I know when my glucose is falling as I start shaking and my mouth becomes numb, so I keep a monitor with me wherever I go and if I need a "sugar pill", I take it as I need it so I won't pass out.

Here's another website that explains things:

I do see a diabetes specialist every 3 months. My CT and CAT scan and EEG came back ok. That day my sugar was in 76 in ER.
