I have had seizures since I was 4 years old. My seizures used to be cationic, but ever since 2006 I started to have convulsing ones. I have them about once a month every month. But ever since the beginning of this month (September) I have had 2 seizures and I have been feeling like another one is going to come on. I also have been having constant headaches, some of my headaches are like migraines and some are just regular ones. I originally thought that when the seizures had started up again that it was because I had been off birth control. The reason why I had thought that was because for the longest time I had not had one, but now I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.
I used to be on medication, but when I was 16 I was taken off the medication. My one neurologist that I had seen since the seizures had stated had me on several different meds. While I was on the medications i occasionally would have a seizure, but they wouldn't happen too often. Later on my doctor decided to leave her practice and she referred me to another doctor. When I went to new doctor he looked over all my records and he had decided to slowly take me off my medication, I was so re-leaved that he said that. So it took about 2 months for me to get done with all my meds. After another month or two my doctor says he wants to do an eeg. I go to take the eeg and there is still a little bit of activity going on in my head, but it wasn't enough to worry him too much. So right before I had turned 19, I ended up having my first convulsing seizure, I was put back on meds, but the medication just made me feel so bad. So I ended up just not taking it. Now fast forward to thanksgiving 07, I ended up having another convulsing one.
After that one seizure had happened I didn't have one for quite some time. I had a small one during the holidays of 2008. Now we fast forward to the spring of 2009, I was sleeping and I had another one. The seizure that happened when I was sleeping ended up being the last one till either before or after Christmas of 09. Now after I started school in the spring of 2010 the seizures had stopped. Soon after I had gotten off birth control they had stated back up again, and that is also when the feelings would come on as well. It was so strange because I had gotten the feelings like one was going to come on right before I had the seizure back in 06. Now, I get the "seizure feelings" as I call them constantly. In fact I had one while typing this up.
All I can say now is that I am sick to death of feeling like this, I just want answers to why this has been happening to me for the past 21 years. Both of my doctors that have seen me don't know what or why I have them.
Thanks for listening.

Sorry to know you've had to deal with it this long. Welcome to CWE and I hope you can get some good info from everyone here. Best of luck.

TerminatorChat12,

Warm welcome to CWE,

my Son of 26 has E and has the T/C (convulsing ones) and all the “seizure feelings” to boot.

If your seizures are ramping up, time to get back to the doc. They need to be controlled. Current neurologist cannot shrug off, EEG shows activity out of norm and you are experiencing seizures…would you consider to seeing another neurologist for 2nd opinion?

Suggest, keep record (diary) of all the sensations and seizures you are having, it will help you explain and express yourself at the doc visits and help show/find potential triggers for seizures...

A neurologist (specialist) needs to review/revisit all that you are experiencing…and help.

Hi TC12, welcome to CWE!

I agree with Chaz1, it's important to check in with your neurologist. The "seizure feelings" you are having may be simple partial seizures in and of themselves. It's worth tracking them as Chaz1 suggests, since you may be able to identify triggers or patterns. There may be a hormonal connection as you suspect; when estrogen rises or progesterone decreases at different times in a monthly cycle, that can be a seizure trigger. There can be other triggers as well -- fatigue, low blood sugar, illness/infection, thyroid issues, food sensitivities, emotional stress, environmental factors, etc. So a seizure/symptom diary can be very useful.

You may find this link helpful -- there's a lot of good basic info to get you started: http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/f22/proactive-prescription-epilepsy-1254/

Best,
Nakamova

I actually have an appointment this Friday with a new doctor, I am hoping he/she will be able to give me some answers! Thanks for the warm welcome!
